What's Working with Real-Debrid

All that is legally required is “good faith and reasonable effort”, terms that give a lot of leeway.

I think that you are correct regarding the United States.

But what about France & the other EU countries?

And “good faith and reasonable effort” is not exactly clear cut even if that’s the case over there.
The Netflix, Disneys, HBOs, etc, etc have very deep pockets to fund endless lawsuits which a company like a RD wouldn’t have the resources to effectively fight.

RD is a legit service. The fact that they are blocking streaming says they want to protect their business. I highly doubt the companies you are talking about have any clue that RD is used to illegally stream their content and there is no way they are going to go after them.

It takes about 20 seconds on Google to find out that RD for content is working again under certain conditions.
And you don’t think that the various PTB are going to remain unaware for any lengthy period of time?
And that RD has motivation to stay in business because it’s profitable enough without dealing with us?

I think we just have to agree to disagree here.

Not sure what other business they have than us(?)

I’m not sure either.
I do know that there are legitimate reasons for scientists to share large files with colleagues around the world. RD would be perfect for that.

Since it’s working for me also, is it renewable? My current sub runs till March.

I would guess it is. Try to renew. My Sub is good through 7/2025

The fact that they didn’t just close up shop right away tells me they have interest in, at the very least, taking the time to see what options they have for the future. As was asked above, I have no idea what business they have that is 110% legal they can fall back on without worry. It seems to me (as we have always known), their business is in that “gray area” that we talk about. Since they seemed to have complied, the powers-at-be will likely, eventually, shift their focus to the millions of other “gray area” businesses that need their attention. Maybe in that time, RD can come up with a plan to make it work, without blatantly re-committing the same issues that led to this in the first place. If they can’t, someone, somewhere, may use their business model to come up with a new option in that market with RD, AD, Premiumize, etc.

I live in Toronto, Ontario Canada. My surfshark VPN is set to Toronto. I am using Kodi Umbrella. Real Debrid is working great. I am not complaining! I hesitate to change to Premiumize too soon as Real Debrid expires later this month.

It is working for you at the moment, lucky you. No one can tell you if you can renew in March.

I am using IP Vanish, Kodi Umbrella and RD. Its been working all week and last.night. However I had one movie buffer twice last night. If the link in kodi Umbrella has RD in the link and it plays yet it buffers, does that mean RD isnt working? Thought it wasnt supposed to buffer with Rd? Or is this happening because of this new RD issue? Anyone else having buffering issues with same setup?

I’m seeing issue with Cinema HD as it will not populate streams. I have Surfshark and RD. Stremio seems to be working.

I’m using IPVanish. Knock wood, I’m not experiencing any Cinema HD issues with RD. However, there are less links. Not a big deal as long as a link plays.:smiling_face::smiling_face:

Buffering can happen with premium hosters for different reasons.

  • VPN efficiency. Check your vpn speeds on your streaming device. IPV always had slow servers for me back when I was a sub. If your speed test shows slow downstream speeds, try another server and retest speeds until you get decent 100+ speeds.
  • If speeds are the issue, try selecting source file sizes that are smaller.
  • PM was dealing with server congestion during the big influx of new subs when RD uncertainty was the focus. They have improved much since then.
  • RD, on working platforms, seem to still work well when speeds from the device is normal.

Yes, RD and PM servers can be the problem also. Neither is always perfect, nor guarantee zero buffering all the time.

Hey mslea, hope this doesnt hijack this thread, if so, i appologize. I am trying to reply to you.

May I ask what version of Cinema you have, and whats the best place to download it? I am one of those, if it works fine and isnt broke, i leave it alone. I have a very ancient version, 3 years I havent updated it. Reason why, it.never showed ads and it worked beautifully for 3 years. Well, up until past 3 weeks, if i watch a movie and do a new search, it keeps playing the same movie I previously watched. Not sure if new versions have this same issue? Thanks in advance
