will our firsticks cease to exist if amazon changes our firstick to their own system. can they do it with an update??

not real sure but I would imagine if they do go in that direction they will allow the older devices to work but updates will eventually cease and require you to purchase a new stick… or jump and run

My point of view is just like an android phone. There are a few companies that have not made their apps, backward compatible and to use the new ones, you need a new phone, full stop. As long as your apps function, do you really care about updates? Many of us blocked updates on our sticks while we could. No harm, no foul. They work great and Amazon can’t touch them … in theory. I don’t need a new version of netflix or prime.
