What is a ".dat " file in the torrent received folder?

Searched but confusing answers from search engines.
I searched here.
No luck,
I mainly use TGX.

Example:
~uTorrentPartFile_3E3xyzxyz.dat

I over wrote the last 6 characters with xyzxyz.

I tried to read it. gibberish with each attempt.
I do not think it is mis-leading header like torrents use to use awhile back.

lol, there are so many types of .dat files its hard to tell.

Part file - this could be uTorrent naming the file as dat until you have the complete file, then the file name will change
