I have to agree with you Miki. Once I watched Troy’s videos on how to install and setup Stremio, I haven’t turned Kodi on since. Stremio just works for me and always has great quality videos.
Nice attitude @Timwort - tell us how you really feel!
Like you I’ve used Kodi for years. In the early days I used the Kodi builds but they were constantly crashing and updating all the time. Now I use the ‘Best Kodi Addons’ which can be found on Troys website, and they run great. This way it also lets me tweak the Kodi interface settings the way I want it. You might be interested to know in the Umbrella Repository it offers an alternative skin for Kodi which gives the kodi interface a new modern look and feel for Umbrella, and as a bonus it also works with all your other Kodi addons.
I’m currently using Nuvio and Stremio as my main streaming apk’s. Leaning more on the Nuvio side lately because of its customizable ability. I use the same add-on’s on both. As a backup and third option, I also have Kodi. I’ve found that The Crew and Umbrella provide me with 99% of what I want to stream. I do use Surfshark and Torbox with all my services. Recently, I tried setting up one or two of the many Kodi Skins that are available. It’s a daunting and intensive process. Sooooo many options and settings. I made some progress, but feel like I’m not getting the optimal results. I have a trakt account but it never seems to link up correctly with all services and end up removing it. Is that the only way I could achieve what I want? Does the Umbrella skin allow me to get a nice neat interface? Is their a step by step instructional somewhere that goes through every option available or am I asking for to much? I’ve watched Troy’s videos and even some others on YT, there’s just so many options!
I’ve been following Troy since XBMC became Kodi. I don’t say much on here because back thenTroy taught me the basics and showed me how to just figure it out. Your experience with Stremio sounds very positive. However some of us for many different reasons prefer other methods, Kodi being one, as our go apk. We can see you are very adimate about this because you used the word “I” 9 times and the word “you” once in your post. We understand your position on this subject and hope you understand ours. Thanks for your time.
Of course I understand other ppls view on Kodi and also hope they understand my view on it and Stremio. It’s what we’re here for. Hope to see your contributions to the discussions as well, especially you being a member for 5 years. As you’re such a long time Kodi user I do hope you can share your positive experience and skills. Not sure how the number of I’s or you’s has anything to do with the discussion but I do appreciate your input. Have a great weekend and enjoy Kodi, Stremio, or Nuvio, whichever you use, they are all amazing apps.
@BigOaks , thanks for responding. Honestly, I’m not sure what you’re trying to accuse me of saying. I have no position on anything. I was just sharing my experience and asking a few questions. I’m here to learn and experiment, just like many others. Maybe I didn’t explain myself very well…and for that, I apologize. ![]()
@Joela63 BigOaks was responding to Miki, not you. Their post just happened to be right after yours.
Hey @Joela63 you are all good. Never be afraid to say your piece here on the insider. Trust me, I don’t think you could be offensive if you tried. ![]()
Be well and have a wonderful weekend.
So I started using Stemio a few months back on occasion. Is Weyd similar to Stremio? Pros/Cons? why pay for Weyd if its similar? Thanks for your responses
@DesertFire I’m traveling now, but as soon as we get home I’m gonna give Weyd a trial and here’s why. 7 day trial is FREE. Then the annual cost is a mere $15. We took our daughter last night to Outback Steakhouse and I left a larger tip than $15. If you listen to Troy’s video, supporting the devs provides incentive to keep the app updated and running smooth. Other Insiders have reported ease of operation, speed of playback, quality video and friendly UI.
Many Insiders refuse to pay anything for entertain, to each his own. I see $15 as more than reasonable. I also am not into tweaking all the buttons. I want to press a few buttons and enjoy the video, but that’s just me. Enjoy your streaming!
Thank you for the information. Free trials are definitely a great way to test drive them
HELP!!! I simply cannot get my torbox to configure with Stremio. I bet I watched all Troy’s videos on how to install it at least 3 times and have used the bootstrapped Stremio with no luck.
When I go into torbox, I have no idea what to click on since the Stremio adding is discontinued .
Can someone help me!??
