Whats your take on Tuta email. (used to be tutanota).

I use both Tuta and Proton mail.
While I’ve used Proton longer, and continue to use it more regularly than Tuta (mostly out of familiarity), I appreciate what kind of identity Tuta projects.
Tuta is more security focused than Proton (e.g. more complete encryption, oem push notifications, etc) . Tuta is also more open source and not attached to the Google ecosystem as much.
Proton is security oriented also - it’s always been their big marketing point. They’re just shy of Tuta in a few areas (plenty of online articles comparing the two). Proton, in recent years, seem to be more focused on market share and being more mainstream with providing and bundling all their package components of their business.
I like the Proton UI more than Tuta. Better customizations also. Tuta has better calendar sync capabilites.
Sign ups. Proton requires you to provide a valid email to complete signup. Counter anonymity there. Tuta doesn’t require this but there’s a wait period before sign-up is validated. Tuta is also cheaper (I think) beyond the free options.
