Watching football-initial setup problems

Trying to set up to watch live football and have 2 questions:

Is it possible to watch a station across the country, say an NYC channel from LA, and what do I have to set up to do it?

I have tried to open a couple apps (again football related) using Silk and Silk Opener and I get the message:
UNSUPPORTED BROWSER LINK
Amazon Fire TV does not open browser links.Try opening the URL in the web browser on another device:
http://xxxxxx.yyyyy, etc.
What’s happening there and how to correct?

It is possible to pick up a feed from anywhere in the world. A VPN is a must. I use Silk browser on the firestick.

Open the Silk browser and type in the address bar.
