Walmart just rolled out a fresh lineup of Onn smart TVs running Google TV, and the pricing is hard to ignore. The headline model is a 55-inch 4K QLED that starts at $248, which is a lot of television for the money. This is the first time the retailer has put Google TV inside full-sized…
Wow, tx Troy. One heck of a price for a spare TV on the deck or by the pool, let alone the spare room. Awesome price, nice specs.
Might just check it out during Black Friday. Lol, I need another TV like I need a hole in my head. ![]()

It will be interesting to see the longevity and reliability over time for these cheap tvs. It will be surprising if the screens on these sets don’t show problems over time, Also, I’ll bet these sets have minimal internal memory so plan on using an external android box for streaming so you don’t max out the memory and slow down the tv processing to the point it freezes.
This is an interesting choice.. They already had Vizio OS, which was actually pretty decent.
cant we just add external memory to the TV itself with a USB stick just like we do now with our streaming devices? All you need is an empty USB port correct?
You can try that. The problem is a combination of tv system updates and bloatware you can’t get rid of on Google TV eventually ends up taking too much internal memory and slows down tv processing to a crawl. This is what happens when a cheaper smart tv has only 4 gbs of internal memory (or less).
I would worry more about the OS slowing to a crawl or bricking than the display itself.
The question is which fails first, the O/S or the picture screen?
To give yourself a fighting chance on any cheap google O/S smart tv lasting a while, disconnect your tv’s internet connection after the first software update and get rid of any bloatware and apps you can. Then just use your internet connected android tv device for streaming.
Yes, no more updates on the tv, just using the onn WiFi
