VPN and speeds, Also router with Xfinity gateway

That’s normal for the ONN box. It’s their CPU. Still have enough speed to run what I watch.I watch a few youtube video’s and found one that did the same thing thing on screen.

I watched Troypoint and cordcuttersli videos on installing the vpn on the router, I doubt i have the abilty to do this with the Xfinity gateway. Could I put a router after that with decent results, I would just buy my own equipment but I have spent a few hundred on Xfinity pods to better get wifi in other areas of the building.

Yes, you can add a router as Troy showed in his video. This is the absolute best way to go and will triple your speeds or more. I have the Asus RT86U router that Troy used hooked up to an XFi gateway modem in Naples. You just hook up the input for the Asus to one of the output ports on the XFi modem using a quality ethernet cable (cat8).

Doing this has a number of advantages. First, you will have two Wi-Fi systems in your house, one is an open and the other is a VPN protected Wi-Fi. Second, you will have more Ethernet ports available to you than with the XFi modem. Some of the XFi modems only come with two Ethernet ports. Third, you do not have to install Surfshark at every point of use.

When I first watched Troy’s video I thought this was pretty complicated. But like all of Troy’s videos, it was very clear and easy to follow step by step, even for someone at my age (77).
