VLC won't work with Cinema HD on Onn box

I’ve been using Cinema HD for a long while on my Firestick using VLC as my player. I recently installed an Onn device and when I installed Cinema HD and VLC, I cannot get it to play links with VLC. It will play with the default player, MX Player and CS Video, but not VLC.

I use Premiumize with Cinema HD and those links work with the other players.

Anyone else have this issue or can recommend a fix?

Thank you.

No offense, but I don’t get what the problem is if the Premiumize links work with the default player, with the MX player, and CS Video. Why does it have to work with the VLC player if the others work fine and you get to watch what you choose? I am just curious.

I have same issue with trying to use Stremio with VLC as the external player on ONN devices. Seems to be a problem if using Android TV 12 or 14. Same combo works fine on 2nd Gen Fire Cube.

Hi there. It is an ONN device. Worked fine on my firestick, just not working with the ONN device. It is running Android TV 14.

Hi there. No offense at all. I happen to like VLC, because (for me) it’s easier to bring up subtitles. I just press down on the button, choose subtitle button, choose English, done. I don’t see see those options in MX and the default player. CS has it, but not as easy to get to. I’m sure there is other ways of doing subtitles, it’s just the way I’ve done it and it’s worked for years. Not opposed to new methods, this is just how I’ve done it, with out choosing, “play with subtitles”. Obviously could be an issue with VLC, Cinema and Android TV version 14.

I totally get it now. I am also a subtitle user, which is why I like Kodi and Stremio for watching things with subtitles. It is pretty much automatic. I know the MX player does not have subtitles, I have used it in the past and didn’t actually like it. Android 14 caused way more problems than it solved. It caused my MeCool KM7+ to stop working with Kodi, among other problems. I have since dumped it and now use the Onn 4K Pro. My Kodi is back and I have subtitles back. I would suggest installing Stremio with the Bootstrapper addon. You already have Premiumize, subtitles are there for pretty much anything you watch. Troy has an excellent video for installing Stremio. I can help if you have any installation problems should you decide to install Stremio as can a bunch of other forum members here,

Thank you for offering some assistance. I had started looking at Troy’s website with setting up Stremio, but will check it out.

From within Stremio you can choose either VLC or Exoplayer as your default player.
