The major drawback with Virus Total is that it only tells you what is infected. They need to initiate a removal tool, also. imo

Rule of thumb, if possible, always scan a file before you install it. That’s the great thing about an online scanner, you greatly cut your risk of infection this way.

Yep, personally I prefer the online scanner than one on my device. If your box is infected a virus can disable your scanner etc, giving you a false feeling of security. Also online reputable scanners are more likely kept updated with the latest signatures. :+1:

Have you tried this one? It’s sometimes a little difficult to decipher. But it does give you some extra info beyond virustotal.
