Virus scan showing Malicious

I did a search and did not find my answer so…Defsquid virus scan showed MX player Pro; Sideload Launcher and Mouse Toggle for Fire TV as malicious. I downloaded these trom the tpapp. I trust tpapp and have not uninstalled… but… Any comments on this?

Probably a false positive. Especially if it was downloaded from Troys app I wouldn’t worry about it

defsquid is not a good app as many suggest…jus’ sayin’

I stopped using it some time ago. I use VirusTotal Mobile and Malwarebytes to scan for malicious code.

Way to many false positives are raising with defsquid even on trusted apks. They need to tweak their script or allow trusted programs

If I get anything on defsquid I’ll run it thru VTotal to dbl check. Trust that one the most as I believe that’s Troy’s virus app of choice…& if anything from the RAI shows a hit I figure it’s a false positive, considering the source.

Absolutely agree.I also trust malwarebytes. They have a free scanner and are a very good company.

not to mention that Troy removed defsquid drom the RAI.

Guess that was before my time here…don’t remember ever seeing it there. I use it because it nicely lists my open apps & makes closing the ones I want easy…I’ll also run the cleaner & then just delete the storage cache in my box settings & reboot…morning ritual. I just wish SS had an individual server list at each city (like IPV) so I didn’t have to connect/disconnect till I got to the IP’s that I’ve found have the fastest connections.

Surfshark connects you automatically to the fastest server unless you change the location and if so it picks the fastest at that location for you and at least in my case will occasionally switch it and normally the user isnt aware unless you just happen to be looking at it when it does. Im aware due to an audible alert on my desktop that the ip has changed.

I’ve got “fastest server” set, but alas, it’s seldom the case (according to Analiti)…I get 3 different IP “prefixes” in Dallas (closest & best for my location) 2. 212. & 37. I find the fastest to generally be the 37. prefix IP addresses…so I click till they pop up & I’ll do a partial speed test to see if ping/speed looks right & hold that address for the day/nite…unless I should reboot for any reason.

have you tried the newyork servers? I am closer to Dallas but for me its faster using the NY servers. That particular server is owned by surfshark, most if not all others are rented space.

Yes…I have tried a “few” & they didn’t give me any better speeds…maybe I should try more…but I’m generally good with my Dallas 37. addresses…usually get 150 - 165Mbps thru them…unless right after school lets out & the kids are on their games…then everything slows down… :face_with_peeking_eye:

Hello Everyone,

I just added DefSquid to the Rapid App Installer.

Keep in mind that some of these will always show as malicious because they are modified.

Example, the MX Player version in our RAI are packed with the codecs so that app has been re-signed by a person who isn’t the original developer. These are the types of things that will throw false-positives.

Thanks for keeping us updated on everything and all the apps :v::sunglasses:

Thank you sir for the addition. It picks up modded code so it triggers the warning, however i find it to be like AVG where everything was a threat.

When I open Virus total mobile I try to scan I get an error message stating
“No Internet Available”
and it wont scan.
I deleted and reinstalled but still get error message even though I am connected.
Any Ideas?

I have a Gen2 Fire Cube and a Firestick 4K max. Both have Downloader from the same source and Defsquid V 1.6.3
On the 4K max Defsquid says Downloader is malicious however it says Downloader is fine on the Fire Cube. Go figure.
Also on the 4K when I do a clean with Defsquid it removes something from Seren giving an error notification, necessitating an uninstall and reinstall of the app to correct. Doesn’t happen on the Fire Cube however. Sent in a bug report a month ago.

Well @roadrnnr I thought I was the only one but started about 3 weeks ago, I’m also now getting the no internet message too. This is on a buzz x5. If I try an older version, the one on the RAI it still works but no newer versions can find internet.

I found my problem.
I am using surf shark and the kill switch was on.
