Have used Capital One’s virtual cards for years. One for each merchant. Unlock, make purchase, lock. No worries.

Love this idea but could not find one in Canada. Not available yet.

I have used the privacy app for a long time…can ba one use or locked to one vendor and you can limit the amount of the transaction. I highly recommend!

When to Use Virtual Cards?

For complete security, you should use a virtual card every time you make a payment online. A virtual card offers an added layer of protection for your transactions, and you’ll have peace of mind knowing your sensitive financial information is kept safe from hackers and scammers. Here are some situations when using a Privacy virtual card is especially helpful:

When Starting Subscriptions & Trials

Use Privacy for peace of mind when starting a new subscription or a free trial. Forget to cancel? No problem. We’ll automatically decline any unwanted charges.

When Purchasing From a New Merchant

Shopping on a website that you’ve never used before or don’t fully trust? Create a single-use card that automatically closes after the transaction. If the merchant turns out to be fraudulent, our expert support team will manage the case on your behalf.

When Storing Your Card Info For Recurring Payments

Privacy Cards lock to the first merchant they’re used at and can’t be used elsewhere if stolen. In the event of a data breach, you can pause or close a Privacy Card anytime, anywhere without impacting your other cards.

I also use Privacy for their virtual cards, but keep in mind paying for IPTV and some other services we discuss at Troypoint will not work. They work great for normal, everyday purchases online, though, and keeps your credit card information from getting out into cyberspace.

I respectfully disagree I use the service to pay for any IPTV that accepts credit cardsand have never had a problem.

That’s great news. Last time I remember, Troy mentioned they don’t allow international payments. I never tried, I went to Crypto. Thanks for the update!

Oh I see. I have no experience with international payments to be quite honest. If u like i can pm you the providers and i never used my real name.

What currency are you using and what is your location if i may ask

I use Bitcoin through Coinbase wherever I can. I’m in the US (Ohio). My IPTV suppliers are now all through Discord, and to be honest I’m not sure if all of them are domestic or international. I do use Privacy for other, more standard payment stuff though. It works very well.

How interesting i am in ne ohio…so like i said never had a problem paying for IPTV service with Privacy. Have fun streaming!!!

I am in NE Ohio too…small world!

FYI this is one that I found that thought recommended against using privacy for IPTV.

Anyway, if it works and no issues, would keep doing it. Way better than handing out your credit card info.

I just started actually looking into some type of virtual credit card as I’ve been paying a lot of doctor bills with my debit card. But with the hacking that happened in the medical industry I’m trying to rethink how I’m paying some bills. I’ve been paying the med bills using a pre-paid card called Bluebird which is run by AMEX. Basically I add funds to my B-Bird account then pay the bill with that. Otherwise I keep a low balance on that card. It’s kind of a hassle and AMEX is not taken evrywhere. So that is why I’m looking into other options.

I’ve been with Wells Fargo since the wagon train era and have checking/savings/mortgage and maybe a dozen cars that I’ve financed through them. So they are my bank of choice. I called a bit ago to see what options they offer like the Capitol 1 virtual card. The banker said WF doesn’t offer anything like that and suggested Apple Pay. UGH!

So I did some hunting on Privacy.com and found a reddit thread that said some bad things about the company.
