Did anyone know how I can add an Ethernet port to Verizon ONT…
The line coming out guess into wall and upstairs on opposite side to the router…I can’t move router as it connects to too many things with switches, etc… My streaming device is in basement right next to ont… And the walls are cinder and about of copper lines in walls…I can’t stream anything… I’ve tried extenders, etc… But if I plug directly into ont, the streaming is lightning fast… But when I plug a switch into the ont, i can stream downstairs, but the router has no Internet… Is there a 2way Ethernet that the router and the streaming device have Internet at same time… I’ve looked all over and can’t find… Or anyone have anywhere solution?
Thanks in advance and have a good day
You would need to split your connection and i don’t recommend it.
Call them and ask to run a line down there with minimal splits. Wifi extenders would be better.
I’ve tried extenders but the wifi stops dead at top of the stairs… Something in the wall to basement will not allow it… So u don’t think they make 2 way Ethernet splitter, that can have multiple networks at same time?
I will call Verizon and last resort, since the robots in India aren’t usually much help…lol… Thank u
MESH WIFI ROUTER SYSTEM!

Why not go with a mesh system instead of extenders.lol @AMD237 Great minds.
Tried everything…orbit mesh system… Nothing will go down to basement… If there is no way to split at ont…I will have to put Verizon router in basement with ont and rewire everything… Thanks for the advice…I appreciate it
Sure wish I was there to help you as a mesh system will do the job for you. I’ve seen a router in a back office in a 4 story condo and the office is on the main level (top floor), 4 floors down to the beach with 6 mesh pods spread throughout the condo with one outside at the pool and one outside by the beach and they have 150MBps down speeds and no loss of speed at all outside by the beach and the pool. Just need someone that knows what they’re doing.
There is powerline internet but ive never messed with it or dug in…

Honestly I think the issue is in the line that goes from ont through the wall up to the second floor to router…
And with the orbi mesh… If I put it outside the basement door, everything is good… But in the basement, nothing… Between the cinder and the copper and whatever else is in the wall, u still get signal, but it takes forever to load up a stream and forever to play a stream
How did you backhaul the nodes? If there was a way to hardwire backhaul all of the nodes together I really think it would work much better.
But put a mesh hub at the top of the stairs or entrance to the basement where you have a signal, and then one down the bottom of the stairs. If configured correctly it will pick up the weak signal and boost it throughout the basement.
Ok… So key need tell u how is configured, which always bothered me too .
The ont it’s in crawlspace in basement… With prolly 100 feet of cat5, to the router in living room… The hub Orbi is right next to the router, wired… Then there is one orbi in kitchen(25-30ft away from hub) another orbi upstairs(40-45ft away)… And they are fine, not the greatest, but they work.,. Then the third orbi is in basement(10ft away from ont in crawlspace)
And I even hard wired device into orbi in basement, still sucks…
So the orbi hub needs to plug into the router, correct? Does it need to be so close? I’m thinking what’s the point of it’s that close to the main Verizon router…but idk…
That’s why I was thinking out the Verizon router in crawlspace next to ont, then he will have 4 pets to run Ethernet to devices in basement… And the line that guess from ont up to living room router, can just plug into the router(in the crawlspace) and the other end into the orbi in living room?
Does that make sense?
Because I’ve tried what u said with the orbis… And a signal will travel thru the wall in basement(it was a garage before) but it can’t stream a movie, as the point is awful and the upstream is awful and everything fluctuates too much… Sorry this is so long… Hopefully u get it all… Thanks
U need the Verizon router plugged into the orbi router right?
I had the orbi router plugged in to Verizon router… And the other orbi satellite in the basement(45ft)
And same issue…
Maybe I’m missing something
I’m not very familiar with the Verizon system, but found a couple things I feel like may be relevant (or may not be at all relevant lol) for your situation:
" You should always disable the Verizon router wifi if you are using a mesh network. If both routers are using the same channel that close to each other they will be interference. The white wifi light should be off when it’s disabled."
As mentioned above, if you can’t get any wireless signals through then use a power line adapter. The outlet downstairs that you use has to be on the same electrical circuit as the outlet you use upstairs.
I have never personally used the power line adapter. If you end up trying it with good results, let us know! I have heard good and bad about them but have no facts from personal experience.
Thanks…I appreciate all the help… I’m gonna set up things tomorrow and will let u know…
