I’ll die on this Hill…A VPN is a total waste of money and not needed. Been streaming for almost a decade without one. On the internet every day all day without one. You paranoid people just keep hiding under your bed! 
I go the extra yard. I have my bed in a safe room with armed guards. You can never be to safe these days.
I received a notice of copyright infringement from AT&t due to the fact that I was using s t r e m i o to watch a movie and my VPN was off at that time. Maybe with Kodi you can get away with it but not with stremio or any other app. I’ve seen infringement notices on Real Debrit so what does that tell you!
Seems like just about every thread in this forum ends up with the non-vpn peanut gallery chiming in. Troy recommends it, and won’t stop recommending it. He also doesn’t care, nor do I, if anything happens to those people while ignorantly ignoring the suggested methods. Guess what, Troy is a lot smarter than all of us, and we are in his community. Plenty of forums out there to lead people in the wrong directions, just prefer it not be here.
So can we not have dissenting opinions? Just pointing out what has worked for me for many years. Just because the Founder/Owner of this forum says one thing does not mean that there are not other solutions that work for others. You want a forum where dissenting opinions cannot be given? Go to China or Russia! And why is not using a VPN the wrong direction? This is how people become brainwashed!

The problem is is that the guy is watching movies on s t r e m i o and listens to you about not using a VPN it’s going to keep getting infringement letters until his ISP cuts him off completely then he has no internet. You’re telling people you do not have to use it a VPN, if I continue not to use a VPN I would lost my ISP.

Is that not the game of life? One person recommends one thing, another recommends the opposite. Weigh it up and make your own mind up. If someone is getting warning letters but ignores them because of one guy on a forum then maybe dodgy online activity isn’t for them. I’m a VPN user from time to time but I love MarkxG contributions and would imagine a few of us slinging insults at each other over a few beers would be a right laugh. Everyone has an opinion but only the individual is ultimately responsible for their own actions.

I was under the impression one did not need a vpn if one was using a debrid along with stremio etc?
1000%…unfortunately in the World we live in these days there is less and less of self incrimination. It’s always someone else’s fault. Here’s a Hazy IPA or 2 for ya!

However i also use streamfire, thetvapp and others that have been “flagged” by my isp in the past when my vpn is off.
I beleive it was when i had to access thetvapp website via my Nvidia or Onn browser.
But either way, i am ok hiding this from my isp. Not worried about somone knocking on my door but i like my privacy.
I used to think that too until I found a notice on the Debrit indicating a file was removed due to copyright infringement.
Years ago when I first started down this path I downloaded a few movies on KODI and got a notice from Spectrum. But streaming with RD? I’ve had zero problems Also I’m with AT&T Fiber now. No VPN I use KODI with RD, IPTV Service , and Some Apps every now and then like SportsFire and StreamFire. Zero issues. Zero notices.
So is it the RD that’s keeping you from getting notices. Is that what is shielding you from the originating broadcaster? I don’t think you ever actually told us what Shields your system?
