Using VPN to Get Better Prices on Flights

I have Surfshark. I am trying to fool an airline looking for a better price for a flight. Can you tell me why when I set my VPN to another country and search the airline it still shows me the USA site? It is an international airline based in another country. I am using DuckDuckgo and clear the browser between searches.

Thanks

If its a US airline, they may redirect all international communication to the US site(?)

Yes I assumed that. However it is not based in the USA.

How does that even work? Why would it give you better prices?

Airlines much like pharmaceutical companies sell their products at different prices in different countries. I have a friend in another country that searched for the flight I am looking for and it was 20% cheaper. Even when I change my VPN I still get USA results. Just trying to figure it out.

So how is this even going to work when you need to fly out of your city? They will know when you say you need to fly out of your city to your destination because how are you going to get their besides your billing address will give it away.

Suppose I am Travelling out of the country on business and find a gap where I could come home for a week, then needed to return to finish my work. I would then need a round trip from another country. I could book the ticket before I started my trip from the USA or wail until I was in the other country and find a better price. I have done this before and the trip booked in the other country was always cheaper do to the economy. I thought a VPN would make it look like I was somewhere else instead of being in the USA. For example if I am in Guatemala where the economy is weaker and searched flights on the local internet I would be directed to the airlines website in that country not the USA. I find if I am home and set my VPN to Guatemala I still gey USA sites.

This is what my original question comes from. Any ideas?

@psblin99 , just a thot, i know u said u cleared the cache on ur browser, but maybe clear the cache for the VPN as well, maybe even shut down the router and everything for about 10 mins. to let everything clear out….it certainly can’t hurt….

I like the suggestion. How do you clear the VPN?

Go into “Apps” on your device, find your VPN and click on it, should then get a settings popout, find the cache and click it and clear it. Cache only, never Data as then you have to go through the login/setup again.

I am on my laptop. When I go to Apps and find Surfshark the only option I see is to uninstall it.

What OS do you have on your laptop?

Windows 11

@psblin99 maybe try a disc clean up in Win 11, and wen it finds results there should be a clean system files option, choose that one an IT rescans again, then click yes in clear files(or something similar)….
