Checking to see if this is a common issue or do I have my settings wrong? Whenever I turn on my vpn and subsequently go type in a phrase to search for in Google, I receive a message stating more or less this: User is not authorized to perform search. Does anyone know why this is and/or have a fix? It happens on the iPhone 11, the iPad Air 2 and on my iMac and all use either the tp-link router connected to a modem connected to Infinity or the fiber modem supplied by my isp or to my Nighthawk router in Puerto Vallarta. I believe I am able to conduct the search if i use Safari. Perhaps I should look at using Firefox or other browser???
Thanks,
Roy
google hates vpn’s and ad blockers. Very common issue.
I have ProtonVPN and on my Shield Pro I’ve never had any problems performing a search with it on. When surfing I just use Downloader as I rarely search the net from my streaming device. For that I use Chrome and ProtonVPN on my Samsung phone and Google has never blocked anything for me.
I have been using Adblock for years on Chrome with Google and never, not 1 time have I had any issues
I have ad-blockers as well with no issue however I just stated its a known issue and a fact that google does not like vpn’s and ad-blockers.
Is Adblock the best these days? I need to do something. I don’t know if that costs money. I setup ad blocking through DNS, but half the time I do a Google search I have to complete a captcha first. And it doesn’t remove ads, it just shows a grey box where the ads usually would be.
for android you can try adguard its a no-root adblocker. I use it but it can cause issues with a vpn because it mimmicks a vpn locally.
Been using AdBlock for years. It’s Free
Does it require root access?
sorry, I meant I use Adblock on chrome on my PC not my Box
I had the same issue. Then I installed (per Troy’s tutorial) IPVanish directly on my Asus router. Now I don’t have to count busses on that stupid Catcha thing anymore. My down load timesare far better as well.
