Using new Firestick 4K Max - kodi 19.5 - audio is stuttering

I just purchased a new 4K max firestick and downloaded Kodi 19.5. i tried to watch a couple of movies last night. Every time it starts the screen on my amp starts flickering and the sound goes off and on every 2 seconds. I have made sure the settings on Kodi are 7.1 surround (as we have atmos speakers). I have set it to best match and allow passthrough. On my old 4K firestick this didn’t happen. Would anyone have any ideas about what I need to do?Thanks

i use kodi version 20.2 with no problems i dont use a build most apps i use on stick are stand alone ones less problems

I am assuming the audio works fine if you plug the Max directly into the TV and not have it run through the surround sound?

yes it’s plugged into the TV all the time. The sound is only an issue on Kodi, not on Apple/Netflix or Prime.

Does this happen when anything else is using the Hdmi inputs?

I realize that, what I’m asking is if you have tested the audio going through the TV speakers and they worked fine? The surround/Atmos portion adds a lot more possibilities to the issue, we need to isolate what the problem is. You also said this is a new Max. It works through the new Max, through the surround sound using Netflix and Prime?

aaaah sorry. No I haven’t tested it with the TV speakers. The TV is essentially at 0 because we use the amp and speakers for everything. But I can turn off the amp and use the TV and see if the see problem arises

No I don’t believe so. I have a cable from 1 HDMI on the TV running into the amp and I have an HDMI running from the TV into the Playstation.

Is the HDMI cable 2.1 ? Not entirely sure but with streaming atmos out to a device you may need a high speed hdmi cord. This is just a stab in the dark.

That is a great recommendation Miki, whether it is the issue currently or not. With higher end Atmos systems, you should always use the highest quality HDMI cords (i.e. 2.1). It just takes one variable out that you won’t have to worry about.

I am experiencing the same issue - stuttering on my Fire TV (and yes, it is a Pioneer FireTV), so no cables to work with etc. I use CREW add-on, with all settings set to original download settings (after trying to fiddle around to solve the issue). I’ve even tried watching at a lower resolution, thinking it might be a download issue, but to no resolve. It only happens when using KODI - regular Amazon Fire TV content I have no issues. AND - I am able to watch the same (in this case) episode on CINEMA with no audio issues (Happens with movies and TV episodes). Does anyone else have experience with this issue?

I once bumped my HDMI cable with my head and I felt a little bit static electricity it made my shield pro reboot and shut everything down LOL

I always said that @AJS1 has an electric personality, but enough to reboot a Shield. Who knew. :joy:

I’ve had several issues with the new 4k Max. Turning off Hardware acceleration in Kodi solved most of them for me.

Yeah Avengers ain’t got nothing on me! LOL
