My speed on my Shield is 81 Mbps with an ethernet connection. I installed a USB 3.0 Gigabit adapter and my speed is 81-85 Mbps, no improvement. I have a 2017 Shield with all new Cat6 cables. In the Shield menu under Network & Internet - Ethernet it indicates a link speed of 1000 Mbps. My speed at the computer is 934 Mbps. Any suggestions as why I appear to be blocked at 100 Mbps and less?
The shield’s port is 1gb and i don’t think no matter what size adapter you add it will still just be 1gb . It could be the port it’s self . Try making sure the port is clean . Bad connection could be culprit also check cat connector .
Hello, are you getting these speeds when VPN is connected or disconnected? If connected that is probably the issue. Try disconnecting that and try the test again. Yes, you should get around 800-900 dl on that device with the built-in Ethernet port as it’s Gigabit already. You won’t get as good of speeds with your USB adapter and shouldn’t need that anyway.
The speeds obtained are with the VPN disconnected. The ethernet cable is connected between the Shield and a TP-Link extender. I removed the USB 3.0 gigabit adapter. I I connected a laptop to the extender and the speed increased to 94 Mbps. t could be the extender or the Shield ethernet port?
