Originally published at: US Gov Moves Closer to Blocking Pirate Sites With New Bill
The United States is taking another step toward blocking access to pirate websites. Representative Zoe Lofgren (D-CA) introduced the Foreign Anti-Digital Piracy Act (FADPA), a bill that would allow rightsholders to obtain court-ordered site blocks against proven piracy websites. These blocking orders would apply to internet service providers (ISPs) and DNS resolvers, a move that…
I hope not…
I have read so much about this subject on Troypoint, however, I’m not sure or understand where sites like “Sportsfire” and “Rapid Streamz” for example fall in this category. They are free but broadcast all sports and other genres for viewing.
Are they or will they be exempt from the purge, because they are free?
Thanks Troypoint for the information on many subjects involving internet etc.
I don’t see how it can be done. At least not within the next 100 years or so. There will be all types of stop gap bills before anything real will be actually put into law…
I wonder just how many brown envelopes, are being passed to those pushing for anti piracy laws, by these mega media companies.
Whoops, forgive my cynicism.
Must be alot since Netflix and other places keep raising prices. Gotta pack those envelopes good lol
This’ll be like them saying that they passed a bill that would stop the robo calls, too many of them to stop em all. Ijs. MAKE SURE TO KEEP THOSE VPNs on and running
no envelopes involved…crypto
Really? The only way they will ever stop digital piracy is to turn the Internet OFF. Just like they attempted to stop music shares, they will fail with this bill. It’s time-consuming. It’s expensive. And sites will change addresses. And let’s not forget technology. New technology is created faster than politicians or content owners ever do. With the right software, anyone can download just about any digital media and own it from any content subscription service available.
Or Gold Bars.
Understand why you might ignore Zoey! Richard Nixon also ignored Zoey, until he didn’t.
Well Said !!!
Just put a tariff on everything! That will fix it all😜
A tariff? That doesn’t solve it all,as some may think. Solving the problem is easy, LOWER THE DOGGONE PRICES!! THANK GOD ALL OF MINE ARE PRIVATE
