The UK just announced a ban on social media for anyone under 16, and the fine print affects every adult who logs in too. Prime Minister Keir Starmer confirmed the move this week, raising the age limit from 13 to 16 with the first rules landing as early as Spring 2027. Post from Keir Starmer…
Indeed he is, I live in the UK which is fast becoming a dictatorship. This is not about safety for children, it is about digital control wrapped up in ‘safety’. We petitioned against digital ID, but they are using this as a workaround, ‘the Fabian way’. My child is 14 and is very tech savvy… as the old saying goes ‘what man makes, man can break’. I am in the middle of going ‘old school’ by backing everything up physically, washing down my entire digital footprint… well as much as I possibly can!
Australia did this and found that it had no impact.
They did a news story and found that kids were still using social media, they just found ways around it. It’s not piracy but it is the same game, ban something and people will always find a hack or way around it.
I myself don’t have any social media so no impact to me, I just laugh how govt tries to condition the people, but some just won’t conform.
Yeah I’m in the US and laugh at stories like this. The kids are on social media all day long. They will always find work arounds for this type of stuff just like we are able to with our viewing content
