My sk1 has arrived. As its a xmas present from my wife, i will check if it powers on and reluctantly hand it over to her lol.
Only took 11 days to come to uk. No import duty or vat charges.
Woooohooooo. Congratulations @Anth . Keep us updated on your journey. I’m curious to see how you make out. Although with all the help here I know you’ll do just great. Again congrats and cudos to your wife.
Nice to get the SK 1 and not have to do it “under the radar.” Don’t forget to get a good cooling fan to put under it if you live in a warm climate. Enjoy!
Im in uk Bill, its 12 degrees celcius here today and thats warm for winter.
We hit mid 20’s sometimes 30 if we lucky in the summer where i live.
I did buy a small vontar usb fan when i purchased the x96 x10, i will try that if it gets too hot.
Thanks Miki. Loads of stuff i wanna try lol. I should write it down before i forget.
Got boxes all over now lol.
That’s what I do. When testing I have a notebook that I enter info in as I go through the setup. I keep the notes for a long time lol.
I have a Notes/Todo tab for each box I own in my maintenance spreadsheet and that is a lot of tabs. It helps with organization.
Anth, would appreciate a report or any info you can share on this box. Thanks.
Nice. I got my SK 1 in the summer, (I live in AZ) so a cooling fan really helps with just about any streaming device here. If you go through the entire thread here on the SK 1, (it’s quite a lot), you’ll find some excellent pointers on how to set it up and get maximum performance.
I have just had it out the box to check if it powers on, as i need to get it wrapped as its my xmas present off the wife.
As soon as i opened the box and seen it i just thought wow, it has some weight to it too. The sk1 just feels like a quality bit of kit, even the hdmi cable is high quality. I was a bit disappointed with the remote because it is really light, but after using it i have changed my mind and really like it as the buttons are really nice to press.
I have had a quick look through the settings and changed the animations settings, i cant remember what to but it was mentioned earlier in this thread and navigaton through the menu is very fast. Done some settings in cec for the volume control of my tv.
I have enabled auto framerate but havent had a chance to test it as i didnt connect to internet or have any video files to test.
I would be interested in other ppls framerate settings.
My firmware version is 1.3.8 but i know there is 1.4.0 available so will update once santa comes lol.
So this far into using it without any apps or anything i absolutely love it. Im coming from a firecube 3 and nvidia shield pro and love not having the annoying ads all over.
Cant wait to fully use it next week.
You’ll find alot of UGOOS specific stuff on their Telegram about frame rate, sound settings, etc. etc.
Here’s an invite if you have Telegram.
And dont forget, that you can programme the two top right grey buttons of your UR02. I used them for my soundbar _sound mode and codecs.
Ali Express now has the SK1 on sale for $180 plus tax.
Finally got the sk1 off santa lol. Got kodi and stremio setup running absolutely perfect.
Is there any point having the sk1 passthrough the audio to my tv, ie dolby digital as the tv will surely only have 2 speakers inside.
When i did passthrough the audio as a test in kodi there was audio sync issues.
Coming from the cube 3 where if i tried to play 4k it would sometimes buffer the sk1 has missed a beat.
I may get a bigger fan to go underneath as the little vontar one i got is tiny. Cpu temp was hovering around 50 degrees celcius while streaming a 4k file in kodi.
Auto framerate works in kodi so changes fps to match content been played. Also stremio is changing framerate fine. I have both these apps disabled from the ugoos in built afr and let the apps do it themselves.
I use the pass through to an a/v receiver, if the sync is out on certain files in Kodi you can fix it easy by entering the settings during playback, click audio settings, then click audio offset. Have fun with your new toy.
Miki maybe you did this but just checking, if over time your shield is running hotter, it’s usually caused by dust, if you use can air and spray the vents or take cover off and spray usually solves problem most people forget to do this, should be done once a year
I take the case apart every 2 to 3 months. Helps a lot and I have a fan under it as well. Tx for the suggestion.
Hey Bill what kind of fan is that. You got a link for it please?
AC Infinity. You can get one off Amazon. They have a multi-speed on/off switch and run very quiet.
