If price is not an issue, which of these three boxes is the best? I know each has their pros and cons, but I as seeking some expert opinions.I have an ONN 4k Pro, and a Firestick Pro, but with the upcoming clamp downs, I am looking to change.
I applaud your desire for information but I think there are far to many variables in this hobby to get a single straight forward answer. As an example, 64 bit is now the standard in computing and 64 bit apps will or are becoming the norm, so that is but one small consideration as is future proofing. I have and use a P6L 256 Unlimited. Way overkill for what I use it for but provides me with a wide range of possibilities, especially with 32 GBs of DDR5 RAM. The latest USB. 256 GBs of internal memory making it easier for basic recording, and 64 Bit OS so 64 Bit apps can run on it, and the list goes on. Not sure there is a one box fits all answer.
Oh by all means I understand fully and as said, I applaud your efforts. I just don’t want you to get mired down in all the details, it can be daunting.m
I’ve often heard that “nothing is for certain in the streaming world”. Many things can change in the blink of an eye.
I am fairly certain that most of the streamers started with the Firestick which has typically been a $20 investment. When people were looking for different option, came the rise of the ONN/Google, which fit most people’s budgets. At this time I moved to the Nvidia Shield, which was a big leap from the the Fire 4K stick. I was feeling that $200 upgrade was justified with the upgrade in memory, that the company was US based (for customer support), and it was just the king of the hill. But now with rumbling of possible OS changes looming, there is a lot of confusion on which way to go. There were thoughts that streamers would possibly be redeemed with a cheap Chinese box so that they could stay in a sensible budget. But far too many articles lately have warned against possible malware burnt into the box. So now the dilemma is, do I spend $150-250 on a streaming box that could eventually end up not working with whatever changes may be on the horizon.
For me, personally, it really has to offer, first and foremost, customer support in the event of any issues. So I’ve poured over threads here on the Insider to see what folks are saying how they have been treated by the manufacturer, when Issues crop up. Heck, when a Firestick quits working one would just buy another $20 stick.
I also have the BuzzTV P6L 256 unlimited and couldn’t be happier. Runs extremely fast, 64bit capable, very smooth with (imho) very sharp graphics. I have had mine for about 6 months and it has been glitch free. YMMV but I am totally satisfied with my choice.
I like the Formular and Ugoos devices. I never had a problem with them. I don’t have a Buzz TV. So can’t speak on the Buzz TV. Personal preference I guess.
