Ugoos AM9 coming in July

Thanks @sim_bill. I know you are big supporter of Ugoos, so I definitely appreciate your viewpoints. I trust your eye on the upscaling comparison, but is there any data to prove the SK1 is worse at upscaling than the AM9? Again, not doubting your highly trained visual experience, just was curious if this is common knowledge in the Ugoos world or just something that you noticed since you own both.

I am basing my conclusions on visual observations. I have connected and run both the AM9 and the SK1 to my LG 65” Oled for comparison. Maybe the AI upscaling difference between these two boxes would not be noticible on a smaller sized screen, but on the 65” set, it is.

Very interesting, and thanks so much for your feedback. I am still waiting on my SK1, so I’m excited and watching the tracking every few minutes it seems haha. Do you happen to have a Shield Pro also, or have you used one? Curious how that upscaling compares to these two.

You will really like the SK1. My only recommendation is to run a usb fan under it to assist with cooling since the casing is plastic and only has air vents on the bottom. I and several other people I know have compared the AM9 with Nvidia Shield and the PS6 and concluded the AM9 has the better upscaled images.

You don’t have to tell me twice to cool my boxes LOL. I am obsessed and even have my modem sitting on a fan, along with just about every box I own. I’ll see how I like the SK1 first, then give it its own personal fan once it is a mainstay on one of my TVs.

What makes the AM9 so darn good at upscaling?

I have an SK1, AM9 and a Shield pro. I personally think that both of the Ugoos boxes are better at upscaling than the Shield.

The difference between the SK1 and Am9 is small, but I also think the AM9 is a hair better. But all of the differences will depend on the settings, TV, content etc. and will vary. Then you have to figure in the eye of the beholder, some people prefer a sharper picture, and some don’t etc.

The big advantage of the SK1 is that it has Dolby Vision if you watch DV content. I think you will really like it.

Probably the processor.

Unless you see them all together it’s hard to tell

Just curious. Where did you find this? Looking at the listed specs, it doesn’t look different from the AM9.

I’m also curious since I haven’t been able to find anything.

That says it has Dolby Vision but still 4GB memory.

That would be a strange choice for the Pro since I think everyone was expecting it to have 8GB, but the DV would be welcome.

The pro looks like it has basically the same specs, except for addition of Dolby Vision. Even if it has 8 gbs of RAM enabled, it won’t be any improvement for streaming over the AM9. The processor is basically the same,

Thanks, I only check the Ugoos Telegram every few days and hadn’t scrolled up enough.

Every box on the market always has something missing from 64 bit OS,8GB memory, new codecs, Dolby Vision or one of the audio codecs.

I think they are doing it on purpose just to tick me off.

That being said I am very happy with my AM9 and will buy a Pro for a DV capable TV I have as long as the price is reasonable.

I’ve heard on the grapevine that the Android 14 deinterlacing bug has finally been squashed on the Google Streamer with the latest firmware update.

Hopefully this means similar updates are imminent on other A14 devices, including the AM9 and upcoming AM9 Pro. :crossed_fingers:

For anybody looking Amazon US now has another seller in addition to the Delaware one and the price is $160 with Prime 2-day delivery. And with the return period extended to Jan. 31st you can run it through its paces for almost 3 months without worrying.

Still no sign of the Pro yet.
