TV not compatible with Onn 4K Plus

I have been researching and watching the excellent videos here on the Onn 4K plus. I checked Amazon and there are some available through independent sellers. On the product page, there is tab to see if your tv or monitor is compatible.
I have a Samsung smart tv, modelUN50KU630DF. There must be 100’s of Samsung tv’s on there, and mine isn’t listed. Anyone else have an issue with incompatible devices?

Just wanted to make others aware of this issue.

Also, what would be a second choice for streaming device. I am lost without my now unusable firestick.:sleepy_face:

I’m sure any of the ONN boxes will work with your Samsung TV. Just grab one and try. If it doesn’t work you can just return to Walmart

Yes as @SoloWarrior says they will work. I have a Samsung Smart Tv from 2025 and it works fine.

Not sure why you think it would be an issue. You are plugging into an hdmi port and selecting that source. It is independent from the tvs OS.

I never even thought to check its compatability. Are there tvs that won’t accept an hdmi ports device?

Don’t think you’ll have a problem. never heard of this with any of these devices.

Those compatibility charts are frequently way off - I’d ignore it in this case.
The Onn devices are compatible with ANY TV/monitor with an HDMI input.

My tv is older, got it in 2017. I am just going by the list that was on the product page for the Onn at Amazon.

I am on the very low end of the knowledge scale on all of this, but I think I understand on the port and os.

I think you have your answer here but just to re-enforse, I have a 2009 Samsung Plasma, so your 2917 Samsung with an HDMI port will work perfectly.

The truth is the HDMI port is the only thing that matters.

@djallgire what is it doing ? Not coming on at all . Is the screen coming on and off ? Does it not load ?

I have a Samsung 2017 . I dont think it’s the tv . But when I turn the box on the screen flashes on and off . Sometimes it happens all day every few minutes . Some days it doesnt do that at all . Just stays on . I dont get it . Anyone have any answers ?

I think that some of the Onn products are defective I had the same problem but I took the Onn Pro back and just got the Onn stick no pro and it worked fine on my Samsung tv. All of my televisions are Firetv except the one Samsung tv I have. I suggest taking the pro back and get the regular Onn stick. I hope that helps.

My favorites are shown, but don’t play and I now assume after reading a lot of posts here, it must be the new rules from Amazon.

Also, if I try to download any replacement app or play a movie/show, I get the message “Parse Error - There was a problem parsing the package”

The firestick has died - time to move on. I have had many years and enjoyment from the firestick and hopefully, will have with the Onn when I can get one.

@djallgire, what ONN device are you wanting to get?

If you are looking for the more basic ONN box then this one seems readily available. It looks like it specs out similar to the Firestick.
