What website/newsletter is Troy referring to in his email today?
I am subscribed to a few cord cutter newsletters and want to make sure I’m not patronizing any of those scum bags stealing tp content.
Don’t Be Fooled
I started TROYPOINT in 2009 and during that time we’ve encountered many who duplicate what we do.
We’re often asked by fans like you if we own these other websites due to the fact that everything that we publish gets regurgitated on these copycat sites.
There’s one site in particular that I will no longer mention as I don’t want to give them any publicity due to their fraudulent practices.
Eight years ago I hired a company out of India to build a website for a project associated with my full-time job. I then had them do some work on the TROYPOINT site and at that time they cloned our website and to this day they copy EVERYTHING that we do.
Their logo shape and design looks exactly like ours and every article on their website is a duplicate of ours.
Now, they’ve started a weekly newsletter where they are following the exact same format as ours and they’re even using the same software to send it.
No, this is not us.
If you don’t see the TROYPOINT logo and the email isn’t coming from news@troypoint.com, rest assured that you’re getting our cloned content from this outfit out of India.
The best thing that you can do is click the “Report Spam” button in your email software when you see these newsletters and then click the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email.
There’s more than 1 that’s for sure. I don’t know any of the names but there have been times where I’ve googled for something and came upon sites that just basically copy and paste verbatim articles from Troy’s main site. BTW this is an issue on the internet in general not just to Troypoint.
Please do not post that logo in open forum. In a PM if you want. Troy has clearly stated he does not want them mentioned at all. Thank you for your understanding.
Most here do know. It’s just that that gives them advertising. I understand your point though. Again, thank you for your understanding and co-operation
Now I’ve seen some sites that didn’t have the same name, that pretty much were carbon copies of Troypoint, but never encountered one with the same name. Now I’m actually questioning am I really on the real Troypoint site lol.Being sarcastic but at the same time I’m really at the right place aren’t I lol?
I don’t really look around that much, but you can see plenty of plagiarism on the internet anyhow.
The only time I have mentioned or quoted anything from here I have either put a link in to this website, or stated where the news came from (some sites don’t allow links to other web sites)
I am pretty sure others don’t do this, but to me it is just common courtesy.
Then there is of course the multitude of sites that are just cloning, usually with an attempt to place a trojan on the viewers device.
My remedy is report it as scam and to tell the website that has the original content ripped off, just as a courtesy.
Well to be perfectly fair here (And I may catch a lot of Crap here on this) there is a LOT of this that goes on. There was an article published on Feb 13th by ZD Net on “Is Temu Legit.”
There is also an almost identical article posted on Feb 23rd from this source
You missed my whole point. Not trying to give anyone a hard time but the first article was published first on Feb 13. Troy came out with his on Feb 23rd a few days ago.
