If you are using version 21.0 then you should not lose your data by updating.
I don’t see the point in using a fork though.

I did everything exactly as it was typed out.Nothing changed on my ONN.So I don’t see a need for it.

Here’s the point. A fork allows you to test out multiple Builds on the same device. I always have a “blank” fork because of this

I suppose for testing builds it would come in handy.
I don’t use builds and just prefer my own setup.
I think this is what makes Kodi standout from other VOD apps because you decide how it looks and behaves.

I am wondering about this also considering the post by Troy states you won’t if you use Toolbox, but you will if you use AppStarter. ( 17. Click Install on the update application screen. Note that your existing add-ons, build, settings, etc. will be lost.) Unless it is just a typo. Really neither option is hard to do.
