Travel Router for Home?

A response in the thread regarding streaming in a hotel inspired this question:

There are a fair number of inexpensive travel routers preconfigured for Wireguard and OpenVPN.
What would be wrong with buying such a travel router for our house?

Our TP-link mesh system is dated but more than exceeds our needs except that it cannot be configured for any of IPV’s protocols. $40 would be a lot less expensive than buying a newer mesh router with a satellite.

Travel Router would be fine for one device and not much more. You are limited by power.
Are you wanting to install a vpn? or no

Yeah, the purpose for buying the travel router would be to use it with a VPN…

What about ‘power’ would limit it to only one device?

What I’m looking at would be hard wired to two streaming devices. The rest of the house is OK with just connecting to the present mesh system.

2 devices might be ok depending on the spec’d router. At one time I was using a GL.iNet travel router for my pc and tv box. It held up fairly well. Keep it cool as they tend to overheat.

Thank you!

Got one too.
Love it for how easy it to get by a captive portal.
