Trakt keeps asking for authorisation

Hey Jayhawks been using Umbrella for a while now with Trakt and just wanted to let you know I am not seeing any issue of Trakt asking for authorization. Also checked to see if there was an update and didn’t see anything. My version is 6.6.64.

Also being new here for future reference I don’t see any “solution” box on any of the posts here. Thanks.

I guess thats why i never have seen the issue with trakt. As far as i can remember i was asked to dl metahandler with umbrella (or maybe others). Perhaps it was just part of the build i use.

@SoloWarrior only the thread creator will see the solution box until the solution is credited. Unless altered by the bosses.

Hello,
Yes I agree about just having to re auth Kodi. that was the first thing I tried but it didn’t work.

I haven’t gotten around to re auth all the plugins and deleting from trakt yet.

Thanks again.

Hi @Robini

No problem.

Normally, deauthorising trakt on the app FIRST, and then revoking authority on the Trakt app are the initial steps.

Revoking the app first in your Trakt account, and THEN deauthorising and then reauthorising trakt within your app, is the incorrect way and doesnt work. I’m not saying that’s what you did.

But the above methods is the advice from Trakt.

Then after revoking the app in Trakt account, resuthorise again within the app usually fixes the issue.

I hope that all makes sense.

If you are still having issues, then a quick email to Trakt, might provide an answer. They are very good at answering with various solutions.

Good luck.

Again, I had to go through those steps specifically. Revoking authorizing was just the first step. I actually had to force stop Kodi and reopen it before I was prompted to install Metahandler. If you don’t know how to force stop an app, you should look that up. Or just reboot your device after revoking your Trakt authorization. Only then was I able to re-authorize Trakt and have it work properly.

@crewbean1 would have to be the one to mark this as a solution if it works for them.

P.S. I had my dad follow these exact steps and he also got the prompt to install Metahandler. So I know it’s not a fluke.

Thanks for the detailed instructions.

I tried again revoking first then re-authorising but it didn’t solve the problem. The popup show (Re-authenticate Trakt) about 25 seconds after starting Kodi, and then when watching anything through FEN lite, Umbrella or the Crew.

I appreciate all the help, I’ll give Trakt support a go.

Thanks again

Yes I force stopped kodi but was never given the prompt to install metahandler.

I force stopped kodi and then was able to re-authorize Trakt, but it did not solve the problem.

I’ll see if I can just install metahandler to see if that makes a difference,

Thanks again!

No probs and sorry it didnt work. And just for future reference on revoking trakt.

You need to remove the trakt from your app FIRST. And then revoke it on Trakt account. And then, reauthorise Trakt on your app again.

Hope the metahandler solution solves the issue.

thanks for your input it worked, but now I can not get to “my TV shows” or “collection”. is there a way to force the sync?

Idk what you mean by “can’t get to them”. If you aren’t seeing the section for them then you aren’t looking in the right places in the addon. Each addon has a different layout. If you are seeing the correct section for your Trakt collection and nothing is generating, you need to reauthorize Trakt again and restart Kodi.

Thanks for the reply… The “My Movies” and “My Shows” was not showing up on any menu after removing “Umbrella” add-on and reinstalling it , Trakt, and Real-debrid. I had to remove Kodi from Second gen fireTV cube. Re install Kodi / Umbrella / Trakt / and Real-debrid. All is working well now. So for all the people getting the “re-Authenticate” error this is the only way I was able to get rid of the error. Thanks again for the reply…Grumps :grinning
