I just decided to check the Proton VPN on my Shield Pro. I have been after them for years because of the lack of access to the advanced settings that are present in Phones and tablets. I have updated every time one is available but never bothered checking the change logs. At last they have started giving access to some of those settings. I took a look and now they have enabled Split Tunneling and I can now choose the protocol I want. Still far from the full library of options but it’s a start.

I’m using it in two of our boxes. Hopefully kill switch is next up along with auto connect

Miki that has been an issue for me as well and hopefully they will continue with more updates to the settings menu allowing us to customize for our needs. I really love the performance of Proton VPN and I am testing it on two devices currently and use Nord on the others.

Proton VPN has killswitch and auto connect…you have to toggle the Killswitch on the main UI to ON…and for auto connect you have to turn on the “connect on app start” toggle to ON…

I cannot find it in Android TVOS. All I have are Split Tunneling, Protocol, Sign out and Report an issue in settings and I’m running the beta

Those advanced options like the adguard, malware protection, killswitch etc. are only accessible on laptops, towers/desktops, phones and tabs. Not on streaming devices. This is the first progress, for streaming devices, that I’ve seen them make regarding access to those settings since I first got Proton. Fingers crossed for more.

I have been a Nord user since I got into the VPN service and have found it always reliable, Do not think I will ever change. Price is right as well for top notch security.

I’m running version 5.5.27.0 on my BUZZTV Box and the Kill Switch option is in the settings but there is no setting for auto connect for the streaming boxes …yet.

Where did that come from? I’m running the beta for TVOS and the current is v5.5.44.0

it’s the android version downloaded from the google play store…last updated on 8/7/2024

Android OS or Android TVOS?

5.5.27.0 is on my Shield Pro Android TV 9.1.1(33.2.0.157) and no killswitch setting for me. The screenshot you showed is the 5.5.27.0 mobile version I believe as that is the settings on my Tablet for ProtonVPN.

what Miki said…it is the Android Mobile version.

For about 2 months Proton will quit working and you don’t know it and you get buffering and go in to change servers. It will sometimes quit and kick you out of tivimate to homepage. have tried all settings and uninstalled and nothing help. It does it on new onn 4k pro and other different devices. I got a surfshark sub through this site to have a reliable VPN with kill switch. It started doing this right after the last update.

I am not sure why you would be having issues. I’ve had Proton for 3 yrs now and no problems. I would contact their tech help and send a log for them to review.
