I have about 4 or 5 TiVo Stream 4Ks that were sitting in a crate with miscellaneous wires , remote controls etc and decided to plug one in to tinker with Kodi builds. I got a surprise when I got a completely different screen. All of the apps were gone along with the play store and android settings. Did some research and found out that TiVo Stream 4K has been working on partying ways with Android TV for a year and they finally pulled the plug. Now you only have the option to subscribe to a live tv streaming service such as Sling TV or YouTube TV. You now have to go to their website, log into your account and choose a paid subscription service to use on your device. . TiVo Stream 4 K is officially a door stopper 
Wow that sucks. I better check on the one I set up for my in-laws. Our Daughter is using one and has not said a word yet. Thanks for the heads up

If they wanted to stop using Android TV they should have discontinued this model and replaced it with one that doesn’t have Android TV. Thousands of people bought this device to use the Google play store features and apps and now they took it away. That’s pretty shady 8n my book. They took away what we paid for. Luckily I don’t use them . I loved them when they first came out then started to develope a hate relationship with them . Nice remote control except that you have to pair it constantly .

Seems they want to be ROKU now . Only problem is that ROKU already exists and at least ROKU gives you a large library of apps to choose from and most of them being free. Horrible decision on Tivo’s part . With all of the streaming device options out there they have decided to become the worst of the bunch .

I bought one when they first came out after TROYPOINT raved about it. I hated it.A pain in the but to use.Boxed it up and put away. I have six firesticks throughout my house and they all work great

I have 2 Fire TV BOXES, 3 NVIDIA SHIELDS, 3- 4K Firesticks, 1-Tivo 4K Stream that is now rendered useless. I will keep the remote to pair with shield and toss the tivo in the trash.

That’s what I did. I tossed the dongles Into the garbage this morning and kept the remotes in my crate of spare parts

I have a couple laying around not being used. Was thinking about hooking one up and doing a reset to see what may or may not happen. Nothing lost if it wipes Google. Plenty of back up units now

OK…I dug my tivo-4k out of the box, plugged it in…after about a minute the update started without my action…so I figured I was loosing wolf and tivimate etc… however it re-booted with no changes other than version 9 was updated to 10, everything is fine. I even went to system update and checked it again…same, says just updated. All is well in tivo land for now.

… I was looking for a project for the day and was planning on changing the rom or bricking it…either way it would have never been the same. Must have an esp chip inside and read my mind.

Yea I was expecting the worse and the update actually just updated android. Maybe the outcry from folks sent them reeling and pulled that idea.
