i have an X96max in my garage that’s on android os vs 8.1.0…4GB x 64GB…android security patch level june 5 2018..thing runs like a tank using tivimate and several side loaded apps…records to a powered 4TB SSD drive like a dream…why does it still work flawlessly? i thought you needed the latest android os to have a box work with no problems? am i missing something…i have newer boxes with the latest android os 15-17 and they work also…but this box just keeps rolling along…all my ytube downloaded videos are on it’s HD and watch them while working on my man toys…shouldn’t this thing be dead and no longer useable? what gives…just would like you guy’s opinion on why it’s still working fine…thx
Ive always thought the older android versions were better the newer ones. My all time fav was 9…they have gone downhill since imho.
Well, the nVidia Shield Pro runs Android 11 and it’s still (one of) the best out there.
@Comtech we were/are told beware of these “Cheap China Boxes” but that just ain’t true. I have a similar experience as you. These Boxes are very good and if Google goes the way of Amazon I already have Plan B
I have 2 almost 10 years old Generic T95Z Plus “Cheap China Boxes” with Amlogic chips running Android 7 that I retired a few years ago for ONN Boxes. Never cleaned em didn’t need no stinking fan, recorded great (Well back in the day when recording was a thing) without needing to use that stupid system picker. I could go on an on these were (and probably still are) great fricking AOSP boxes that just always delivered
I’d bet a dollar to donuts that if I wiped the dust off and fired them up they would just work.
I was told these Cheap China boxes are laden with Malware. HAHAHA! Now that’s a good one!
