Thinking of getting rid of Xfinity router what are others using?

Hey guys,

I am finally thinking about dropping my Xfinity router but I am new to this and unsure what is a decent and compatible router to go for. I have done the research but I am curious about what real people are using given I have no clue what to pick lol.

Reason for the switch:

My network in the home is unstable upstairs (the router is downstairs) and I am guessing the amount of devices I have connected to Xfiniti’s router is probably causing “some” issues. Rather than band-aid it with a mesh network, I figured getting a better router would be the way to go. Definitely correct me if I am wrong.

Looking forward to any advice anyone can give.

Thanks

After having tried several different setups the one that seems to work for me is an asus router and instead of a mesh setup I use powerline adapters in areas where I need to beef up the signal both wifi and ethernet over powerline.

This is the first time I have heard of powerline adapters. Gotta say thats pretty cool. Do you happen to know the model of your router so I can take a look?

Thanks

Nice. This looks promising!

5 year old Asus RT-AC3200 still going strong. Ethernet over powerline adapters are great.

What did you end up buying?

I ended up going with the Nigthawk DOCSIS cable modem and added a couple of TP-LINK AX1800 Wi-Fi 6 Mesh System Deco W3600’s to get some additional range in other areas.

So far it has worked out pretty well.
