Pavel Durov, the CEO of the extremely popular messaging app Telegram, was arrested by French Authorities last week in connection to crimes related to his online platform. Telegram is one of the most well-known, widely used applications available today with over 800 million users across the world. Many use it as a means to communicate…
Charges included illicit transactions, child pornography, fraud and the refusal to disclose information to authorities.
Seems Pavel Durov is in a heap of trouble!
…and still no one charged on Epstien’s list?
Apparently, Telegram is one of the major means of communication for the Russian military.
Telegram is a cesspool of criminal activities! Needs to be shut down!
The Internet and cell phones and house phones are also a cesspool for criminal activities, Maybe we should shut it all down.
Uh, this is a specific website that hosts thousands of scams (criminal activities).
Your generalization hardly applies here.
I think he needs to rephrase his post. I don’t think this website is a host of criminal activities.
It absolutely is! Besides child porn, Russian government activities, etc., it has hundreds of message boards setup as tech help for legitimate sites which the “bad guys” then gather personal info from people thinking they are on legit help boards.
The bans are a coming!
I think @zyoc is referring to telegram as a website. I thought it was just an app but i could be wrong.
I dont think the reference was to TP.
App, Website, same thing…
" The BBC has learned that Telegram - the messaging app service whose boss has been arrested in France - refuses to join international programmes aimed at detecting and removing child abuse material online.
The app is not a member of either the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) or the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) - both of which work with most online platforms to find, report and remove such material.”"
I thought you was talking about Troypoint insider my bad!
Simply means all the other platforms freely give access to a certain regime that asks. Telegram owner doesn’t use it to push his personal Trumpian ideology like Musk or Zuckerberg his Dem support. It’s not under USA control so it allows free speech. Rumble is facing similar accusations like Tiktoc.
Don’t criminals use cars. Should governments have cameras in every car watching us. Would they arrest Musk or Ford CEO if he objected
Russian government activities are not a problem unless you have a political problem with them. Didn’t the USA gov create the Tor network. Tors alternative users make Telegram tame by comparison Who commits crime on Tor? A new analysis has a surprising answer
I reckon they do, and if caught, they go to jail and the vehicle is confiscated/impounded.
So apply the same principles to app owner’s. Blame the criminals not the owner’s of the companies using the products
YIKES…
