Hi,
I’m a longstanding Firestick 4K with Syncler+ & Real-Debrid / Express - Squizzle Ultimate. All has worked seamlessly until recently.
Suddenly, on many occasions while watching certain content the screen goes completely black with no sound. When this happens I need to press the OK button (center of the big circular navigation button) and the screen resumes - with the content paused. I click it once again and playback resumes. There are no “messages” to indicate what has happened. This exact scenario keeps repeating every 5 minutes to the second. It is very annoying.
It’s as if something is going into “standby” or “sleep” mode.
I have gone through every setting in Syncler, the Firestick, as well as my Panasonic TV, and I can’t for the life of me find anything that could account for this strange behavior.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks, amnesia
What player are you using? Can you switch to VLC and give it a try?
It sounds like your screensaver is cutting in. This is a well known problem and is very variable.
There is a solution and if you check YouTube you will find that you can change the screensaver time using code.
I had to so this, but I changed mine via an ADB link.
This is how I did it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4E-KGMkGIoM&list=WL&index=21&t=629s&ab_channel=RonsWorld
Here’s a guide that you can print if your don’t want to use guide by video.
This would also be the adb method.
This issue doesn’t affect all fire sticks.
Ok, thanks for the tips. I’ll give it a try.
I definity do have the screen saver turned off in the firestick settings tho. Also it only seems to happen with certain streams - and only very occasionally. This made me think that it was coming from the provider and not my stick.
On top of possibly being a screensaver conflict, you can also try clearing you syncler cache in your apps section.
There were black screen issues on the Kodi platform in the past that was related to cache not properly purging.
Not a bad habit to do periodically anyway - it won’t delete any settings or login.
