OK makes sense. Just don’t know of any 8K content or device that is out there yet. I know it’s coming
I could be wrong but I think that’s sort of “Fake News” @Miki I don’t believe Samsung, or the other mainstream TV providers have 8K TV’s and I don’t think the mainstream streaming sources for TV Shows/Movies have 8K content. That link you provided is limited in detail. An don’t try and tell me you can “Upscale” to 8K
Just a link so you can see that it certainly isn’t main stream YET, but the point is, it is coming and it does exist. When? My crystal ball isn’t t up to date. YouTube supposedly has some of the best 8K content. I don’t use YouTube so wouldn’t know and without the proper TV a waste of my time to look at.
As mentioned 8k is not mainstream and not sure how long it will be before content becomes mainstream.
You can buy 8k devices for upscaling 4k content and there are content makers but not that many.
8k live tv doesn’t exist outside of Japan.
4k live tv is in the minority and most broadcasters use 1080p with the odd premium 4k channels thrown in.
To broadcast all live tv in 4k would be more expensive and people now don’t want to pay the prices they charge now never mind more cost for 4k.
Vincent Teoh from HDTVTest had spoken about some testing they had done with 4k and 8k content at different viewing distances and the viewers couldn’t spot the difference between two resolution.
The human eye responds better to brightness and colour changes not so much with resolution past 4k.
I mean they still make some movies in 2k and the majority are shot at 24fps.
You don’t see many using higher frame rates because they don’t want to lose that cinematic look and make it look like a soap opera.
For me 8k is marketing gimmick for now.
Ask your self when you are watching high bitrate 4k content does it need to be improved.
For me the answer is no.
The real improvement you are after is a native 12bit tv panel with a wider colour range and higher peak brightness’s.
They will come through.
Using Speedof.me
No VPN - 750 down, 25 up
with SS - 690 down 25 up
Using Speedtest.net
No VPN - 690 down, 23 up
With SS - 640 down, 22 up
So, the expected difference with and without SS and a slight difference with testing apps.
I assume you’re paying for a gig with your internet service to be getting numbers that high, is that right?
Actually, my service is for 500/20 but Spectrum has always juiced it up quite a bit (300/20 was closer to 500/20 a couple of years ago).
I just can’t believe how much my VPN (SS) slows things down though. Still good enough to stream but without it, I pull close to 300 down. With it on, the highest I get is 130. So the VPN lowers it by more than half. I’ve tried different servers and protocols but this is about as good as I can expect, which is still perfectly fine for streaming.
What protocol are you using? I’m using Wireguard.
Same. I have noticed recently that my Wi-Fi speed is faster compared to Ethernet. So I’ll stick with that and continue monitoring this.
I have and use the one closest to me.
so am I . The closest for me is New York.
Im using both rd and premiumizer at the monent
