I need help. With Surfshark on and fastest location set analiti speed test is 33 Mbps down and 45 Mbps up.
With Surfshark disconnected I’m getting 419 Mbps down and 96 Mbps up.
Any thoughts or ideas. Thanks.

Have you tried to run a speed test from a Windows PC to verify which location it recommends you use for your network? How to run a VPN speed test in 2023 - Surfshark
Tell us about the protocol that you have been using…
Currently using the Surfshark automatically selected one. (IKEv2)
Haven’t done a recent test on my Windows PC but I will later today. Thanks for the link. I read that first. Has some good tips.
Try Wireguard protocol and different server locations.
Thanks. Switched back to Wireguard and tried multiple servers. Still bad.
Try Proton free version, paid works great if an option for you.
Mine was doing the same thing. Switch off auto to Wireguard. Problem solved for me.
So do you have any issues with the lower speeds? I have Telus wireless internet & very seldom get over 30 Mbps, most time under 20 ( with SS VPN or no VPN) & very seldom have buffering with IPTV or any apps I use.
Typically for most, IKEv2 and OpenVPN protocols bog speeds down far more than Wireguard. If you switched from auto select to Wireguard only, it should steer you to disconnect and reconnect to lock down the change.
Some earlier versions of the app seemed to be hit and miss if selecting wireguard only was reliably consistent. Recent versions seemed more stable. Make sure it clearly the protocol states wireguard in your VPN settings.
Here is my tip for picking the right locations. Instead of clicking fastest location, type in United States in the search box. The circles that are empty or have very little filled in are the least busy locations. It may be a pain, but I do this a few times a day to get the least busy locations.
I have had problems with them. If you have IPV6, they don’t support it yet and try to work around it. I never get more than 40ish but it’s enough to stream. I spent two days in chat with them months ago and they were really helpful trying different settings to speed it up. It’s supposed to be in the works but no timetable. All VPN’s need to do this considering most people have IPV6.
You have your speed with no VPN… then withVPN you are going from your location to another server and then to your test location. Mine is 400gb no vpn and 74 gab with vpn, which is local to me. The further away from you the slower. Good Luck.
Just my to cents worth, I have 1 gig internet. I use Nord VPN and I only use wireless in my home. I tend to run 2 computers and two tv’s on my system. My speeds always average around 130 mbs per tv and I use RD and have no problems with speed or buffering ever.
Good luck
Honestly, I just stopped using surfshark. I’ve been having more and more problems with it. Without it I get almost 700 megabits a second. And it sucks cuz I got two years worth of service. And their customer service doesn’t help much. So yeah I’m bummed also
I took the test with Surfshark on and off. I am in Belleville ON
With it off 179 down 156.34 up
With it on 38.15 down 75.85 Up
Turned auto off and Wiregiard on
117.10 Down 102.15 up
Thank you for the advice
Have ditched Surfshark and using Proton free VPN
Only 3 country options but works very well and is free.

Thanks so much everyone for your input. Yesterday Oct. 25 I contacted my IPTV provider asking if their servers were down as I was unable o get any channrls on my TV.
They replied promptly that their servers were up and running fine. I asked if they had a VPN recommendation and they offered me 3 choices none of which were Surfshark.
I disconnected Surfshark and TV instantly came on and for the last 24 hours every channel is available again and zero buffering.
I have fibre 1.5 gbps internet and 6e wifi so I never want to see a hamster wheel or Surfshark again.
Interesting hearing all these speed issues with Surfshark. Seems like everyone jumped to that when Troy recommended it. I’m still using IPVanish and don’t have any issues.
I’d resist continued usage of any un-verified iptv services without the use of a VPN. Some would argue that even a quick troubleshooting test, such as what you did, is not condoned.
That being said - unlike many others affected by the shark, I’m in the other camp. Knock on wood, I haven’t had any notable issues with using shark and having an impact on services that I use or performance of said services.
The only complainable point, for me, was after the android app updated from 2.7.3 (3 subsequent versions since), my normal servers speeds have dropped from a 20ish% hit to about 45-50%. This only annoys me when conducting speed tests and reflecting back on how faster my speeds were with prior app version of shark.
ok, I read all these comments and I have been experiencing the same issues on slowness. 300mb without Surfshark and 35mb with it on, going through Atlanta. I use analiti for speed check. I am using a year old Onn box with Wireguard on automatic. All of the sudden after the last update, I am getting 250mb with Surfshark active. I am not sure the update was the reason for the improvement. It is so much faster that i am wondering if Surfshark is truly working, even though I have a green square from the VPN monitor. It was as if Surfshark saw the complaints and fixed it? Has anyone else seen this improvement?
