Surfshark not working in US and Canada

I cannot play mine connecting to a US server. It is what it is and that’s “no big deal”. I did my due diligence like anyone should do and figured out how to make it work. Nobody should be bashing @TROYPOINT or anyone over this or over that. Things work for some and not for others. It’s just the way the real world works

First of all, I don’t think my comment came off as crying or complaining. I’m simply stating that not everyone is having this problem, including me.

No tears on my face to wipe away.

I have sent an email to Surfshark asking if there is any truth that they are blocking these various IPTV services from working.

I will report back with what I find.

Has it ever occurred to you that your service is blocking these vpn servers? Just because they tell you that they aren’t doesn’t mean too much. I don’t think any of these illegal outfits should be taken as truthful :joy:.

Jenga187, have you contacted Surfshark customer service directly, regarding your issues? From what I understand SS customer service is very responsive.

Me personally I never trust sites that shill services or have top ten lists of this and that because they usually have a vested interest in what they are promoting.

If someone is trying to sell or promote something they are not going to tell you it’s bad because they would likely lose revenue from their sponsors or payments from shilling a service or product…

Do your own research trials and tests.
Look for information from a wider group base and use different sources.

Speak for yourself. The reason I became a Patron is because I do trust troypoint site and want to support it. Been following him for years.

I agree. I can assure anyone here that Troy’s integrity is top line. Does he make money when promoting a product? Well if he doesn’t he should. Running a site is damned expensive and sources of income are a necessity. On the other hand I know Troy would never promote, or suggest, a product he hasn’t tested or he uses and he believes in it, let alone something he knows doesn’t work or is rife with issues. Simply put, Troy loves his site, has intergrity, cares about his members and wants the best his site can provide for us. At least that has been my experience in dealings I’ve had with him.

This is pretty easy to do. Just type in your browser “best VPN’s for streaming in 2025”. There is a plethora of sites listing to the top VPNs. Typically the top 3 are Nord, Express and Surfshark. On a cost basis, which many cord-cutters find useful is the cost. Guess which one is significantly the least expensive? It just a matter of doing your own due diligence.

Thanks @Miki and to add to this, our affiliate disclaimer link is posted on every page of our website, we don’t hide anything. Yep, we get affiliate commissions for some of the items that we recommend and as you Patrons know there are many items that I do a first impressions video for that don’t even make it to the TROYPOINT website, even if I am offered money. I can understand the skepticism but I won’t risk our reputation on inferior products/services. Been running the site since 2009 and we value those who consume our content.

Thanks to all of you who support TROYPOINT by purchasing what we recommend…you keep the lights on!

Have a great Sunday everyone!

Mine works great, exactly as sold! And the alias and hidden email forwarding were worth the upgrade. You just keep on truckin’, Troy…

Like the drug commercials. They state “individual results my vary”. My results are “vary/very” good.

Reply back from trusted contact at Surfshark was pretty straightforward.

“Surfshark does not block IPTV services.”

There are IPTV services out there that do block VPN usage for various reasons. Some only allow you to access their service from one IP address…your home. Others push a specific VPN and get paid to do so while blocking all others.

My suggestion is to either find a new IPTV service or VPN. I would be cautious about using a new VPN as same service may end up blocking that VPN in the future as well. If you do choose to try a different IPTV service, get a trial account so you can ensure that your VPN works properly with that provider.

Thanks for all who commented on this post.

Thanks for the updates. I will pose this question again to my IPTV provider. It’s odd that it works when connecting through all countries outside the US.

Update: my IPTV provider (big operator, highly rated here) keeps waffling when I ask if US VPN sites are blocked and keeps suggesting other countries. All of the other countries that they suggest do work. Not sure what to make of that kind of response.

I was wondering if anyone experiences this, like i do. If I Disconnect from Surfshark, to switch to another server or to refresh my connection, I experience having to Cancel once during its first attemp to reconnect, then Connecting a second time. The second time usual does the trick. It’s not a big deal and I’m extremely happy with Surfshark. I was just wondering why it does that? Is there a setting or something else I need to do? Thanks :victory_hand:
