Surfshark not working in US and Canada

my tivi mate or crystal streamer will not work with surfshark works fine with nord enabled any ideas

Try Hong Kong or Mumbai. That worked for me. So does IPVanish so I’m using it now. I feel ripped off by SurfShark.

We all made excuses for them when the RD debacle was going on. Figuring that a large influx of customers were overwhelming them. Then we gave them a pass when they were updating their servers. But the server update was alt least a month or so ago. I keep getting bumped to Vancouver, BC when there are two locations that are much closer to me. You might want to contact Customer Service to see what they say. You shouldn’t have to connect to BFE!

Myself and others have contacted them. Their new statement is that they ā€˜do not support’ IPTV.

You think they are going to admit supporting illegal activities? Come on Man! How about torrents??? It is the IPTV service blocking abused IP. Not a Surfshark issue. Use the static IPs. They are less likely to be abused and blocked.

I just checked my connection with my IPTV and it’s working fine. I’m connected to a US site and I have used HK in the past. I have had issues when something seems to buffer more than usual and I just turn off SS for awhile. My ISP is a very small , family owned system that I think they just don’t care. Been with them for over 28 years. They are the only option. Major players are the problem because that is who the media goes after

I’m no techie, but what you describe logically points me in the direction of the device performance – since the speed loss is so much lower with your PC. I run SS on streaming devices and this Windows 11 PC with no problems…as far as I know. I’ve been assuming the momentary drop-outs in service lately are from my provider, but maybe SS has something to do with it…

It only works for me if I use the pointer app mapped onto my up channel button (from the TP toolbox). Then it will go through all the motions and install.

There is alot of legal IPTV services available as well as legal streaming services .So Surfshark remark about not supporting IPTV is bogus. This issue really got bad within the last 3-4 months. Before more pronounced intermittent and odd connections issues but usable. I finally migrated to IP Vanish and literally have no connection issues anymore. I dont think its coincidence.

I use SS and I’ve been having buffering problems. I’ve done things to stop buffering after that doesn’t work, I change locations on the VPN. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. This has been happening for the last dew weeks.

I’ve had some lag with some of my US links, but I just change to another one. My issue is the Kill Switch. I have it set up but when I disconnect from SS and go to reconnect I have to connect, disconnect, then connect again. It won’t connect off the jump. Not sure why. Slightly frustrating.

Oh and remember, sometimes weather where your connecting to could cause the issue with some of your links.

A lot of people having to use non u.s. to connect to their iptv. Yet Troy is still pushing Surfshark as the number 1 service. It used to be, but not anymore. Don’t risk your reputation or credibility by continuing to support a service who had to cave in to the pressure. Next you know, they are giving away your login details or billing address and customer lists.

Some are having issues and some aren’t. Unless you can definitively state where SS is affecting ALL IPTV subs there’s no way it’s the VPN. Way to many factors to say for sure. So thank you for your opinion. Much appreciated.

I just checked 5 different services connecting to Chicago server within Surfshark and all of them working perfectly fine. We can never win. We start recommending different service and we get the same comments. We have learned over the past 10 years that there will always be complaints regarding VPNs no matter what service that we recommend. Finally, we only hear from people when things don’t work…I’m sure there are many happy people still using Surfshark with their IPTV service. Their comment that they don’t support IPTV is ridiculous as they showcase this on our Surfshark sales page - TroyPoint-approved secure VPN - Surfshark

I removed the service names. We can’t name them in open forum. Violates our rules. Don’t want anyone getting banned for a mistake. Have a good day.

Trust me everyone, the blame goes to your IPTV service. I had same problem and I put int a support ticket and indicated my Surfshark IP address that I was connecting through. After multiple back and forths they fixed the problem. Here’s what was happening. They would have a$$hole customers who they would ban but the problem was that some of these people were connecting through a VPN and in my case, the same IP address I was using got banned. They said that they can usually identify if an IP address is a VPN and they won’t ban those but who knows with some of these service. Keep pressing on your provider until they fix it and if they don’t, move onto a different IPTV service. There sure as heck isn’t a shortage of providers out there.

I have (REDACTED IPTV), after reading about it on your site, and it works great. About three weeks ago, it stopped connecting. I played with it and discovered it won’t connect to any U.S. server location using Surfshark. When I change to an overseas server location, it works perfectly. Surfshark is obviously blocking iptv services from accessing U.S. servers. You should be acknowledging this issue, rather than being defensive and crying about patrons complaining. My issue is legitimate and it’s happening, so there’s that. You are our trusted, go-to guy on these issues. Dig deep into trending comments and keep an open mind to subtle changes that should influence reviews and pros/cons of a particular service. The premise of my original post stands. Facts are facts - Surfshark is iptv blocking in the U.S.. Opinions are just that, and you are free to ignore mine. Just trying to point out an issue and opine about glowing recommendations that may need to be tweaked in the face of changes to a service.

Thanks Jenga for your opinion. Many are not having isssues and others who have contacted SS cs have found that some ppls ip addresses were getting banned and unless they have a static IP that may certainly be an issue. As with everything in this hobby ymmv with whatever products Troy may recommend. Until someone, whether SS or you the customer, can point precisely to a cause by generating the same error several times, and generating a log, then it’s virtually impossible to fix. Noone is decrying your opinion at all, but it isn’t fair to attack Troy either.
