Surfshark Not Staying Connected On Streaming Device

Looked at the same problems people were having with Surfshark but they are old posts. My proble is SS will not stay connected all the time. Been going back and forth with CS and their answer is if using on a TV it will not stay connected. I use my IPTV obviously on my TV and I have to reconnect everytime and sometimes it has a real problem connecting. I do try switching the locations around the country and the world and it helps. But, why should I have to do this to get it to work? The customer service doesn’t really help and wondering if it’s time to switch to something else

Hello, try rebooting your router and streaming devices. I had this problem at one time due to my router temporarily losing Internet and then my VPN would obviously disconnect as well. Once I replaced my router that problem went away. Surfshark stays connected for weeks at a time on my streaming devices but I understand not all networks are the same and may be reason for drops.

Have you set the auto connect in your settings

I’ve also had some problems with my Surfshark VPN not staying connected to my iptv and/or kodi accounts for long periods of time. Whenever I close either of my streaming apps I always want to check my Surfshark VPN status and several times when I open Surfshark there is a message saying something similarto: (Surfshark needs approval to receive or send messages) and gives me 3 choices: whether to accept, deny or always deny. I can’t remember if ADB was mentioned :thinking: So, Surfshark VPN stops until I manually choose to agree or accept receiving or sending messages. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated :face_with_monocle:

I have the same problem with Surfshark. It sometimes disconnects part way through watching a film or series, but it always disconnects when I come out of what I was watching. My previous VPN was CyberGhost and that gave little to no problems with disconnecting randomly.

I’ve had to reconnect at times also.

Have you tried turning off IPv6 on your router, SS doesn’t support IPv6 only IPv4.

SS states that they have no auto connect on ios that is built-in to TCL TV units. Everytime I turn on my TV I have to connect my SS. it’s just a pain. They have no fix in their opinion
