Surfshark not downloading onto 1st gen firestick

Hi all,when I search for Surfshark app on my firestick it finds the app but states unavailable.
Is this because it’s a first gen stick.I did run Ipvanish on it previously.

No, Surfshark VPN isn’t supported on a first-generation Fire Stick. Surfshark is only supported on 2nd-Gen, 4K, and 3rd-Gen versions.

SurfShark, as stated, is not compatible with the 1st gen. I doubt SS will code one for an older stick. I highly recommend that you get a 4K Max and start fresh. You will find more and more things that won’t work as devs focus on the newest tech.

I’ve managed to download the app onto the gen 1 via Troy’s rapid app installer.My bad I should have checked that out first.just fyi

Just so you know. Troy’s RAI no longer exists. Troy now has a toolbox

There are still “ghosts” of the RAI out there. Perhaps there was an old (really old) version of SS on the ghost RAI that was coded for gen 1?

Is this still the case in March 2026? I have a 2nd generation fire tv stick and am getting a parsing error. I’m accessing through Troypoint via Downloader.

Hello, I’m new here. I have a 2nd gen Firestick version 5.2.9.5. I can no longer install NordVPN so I saw the great deal for SurfShark. I purchased today but still cannot install on the firestick. Error that it cannot parse. It does not show in Appstore, nor will it install using Downloader code 46836. Do I finally have a brick of a Firestick that might only work in the US without VPN?

Surfshark isn’t supported on the 1st or 2nd gen Firesticks. You need one with fire OS6 or above.

Plus, even if you do get a VPN running on that device, download speeds will be painfully slow due to old CPU in that unit.

That’s a pretty old firestick. Are you sure you have enough free memory to install it? Wow, I could go on and on with why it won’t work and how to fix it but honestly it’s time to retire that old tech and get say a new ONN for $60.
