Surfshark Issues on Apple Devices

Can’t get Surfshark to work consistently on any of my Apple devices. I am constantly changing the server location and DSN numbers but to no avail. Browser, freezes, apps won’t open or function fully. The problem is random, but persists.

This is an on going problem. I spent two weeks doing everything they ask and they have no answer and gave up. iPhone and windows

I purchased a subscription based solely on the recommendation from Troypoint. Although they didn’t recommend it, I also purchased an extended subscription (my fault). I’ve spent hours upon hours on the phone with Surfshark. Finally realized I was chasing my tail. I’ll chalk this one up as a loss and move on to another VPN. I don’t know about any other android devices, but to be fair, it works great on fire sticks.

@whosea thanks for providing info on this. Good to know this stuff as I am not an apple user. I will reach out to them and see what in the heck is going on.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I’ll monitor this thread watch for your response.

I too purchased a year subscription of SS at recommendation of Troypoint. It’s been nothing but a big loss when using on Mac products. Your post is July of 23. It’s now August of 24 and I’m no further down the road with their product support. Lock up. Limited access. No bypasser, even tho it’s been promised. Support is not helpful. I’ve tried everything. They refuse to refund money since it’s been so long. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE ON AN APPLE PRODUCT. It’s useless. Troypoint should make this clear when promoting.

Totally agree with everything you said. I am resigned to only using Surfshark on TVs and fire sticks.

It’s strange, I’ve been using SS on my Ipad and Apple phone for several months with no issues. I did find that if I had the VPN on with my phone that it sure seemed to drain my battery a lot faster. I never really need it on my phone so not too much of an issue for me.

Not sure where the follow-up is on this issue. I’ve been dealing with SS for a LONG time trying to find a way for it all to work on my MacBook Pro. It is turned off or paused more often than it is on. Bypasser isn’t available for Mac. What a waste of money. I canceled my first subscription within the limits SS offered and got the refund. They made contact with me and said they would like to try again if I’d sign up again. I did. Still doesn’t work after MULTIPLE contacts with SS. The only difference? They won’t refund my $$. What a rip off. A paid for non- working product. SS support just goes in circles with no solution. Troypoint should notify their followers that SS doesn’t work well with MAC.

Thank you Miki for your response. I’ve gone through your instructions. I’ve done that on my Mac several times with SS over the past year. Uninstalled, changed up about everything. In your instruction it says to use Bypasser. That feature is not even available on Mac. Something that would have been nice to know through TP or through SS…but alas…nope. I’m finding this app much more of a hassle than it is worth. Definitely not worth the $$ that SS won’t return since it won’t work. I’m thinking TP subscribers would want to know of these issues.

All of a sudden this am., I was not able to get online, No email, couldn’t connect to Safari. I paused Surfshark VPN, and almost immediately all worked. I have been using Surfshark for more that a year without a problem. What could be causing this? Using a Mac. Thanks in advance.

try disabling the kill switch, then in settings>>>apps>>surfshark>>>clear cache>>>force stop and re-start.

After opening the Shurfshark app, there was an update. Installed and launched the update and all appear fine now. Will do TXRon suggestion. Thanks.

Mine was working pretty bad then last night I switched the protocol from Wireguard to IKE something. It started to work real well, but this morning I was having issues and switched it off to watch football and it works great. Funny I can’t access my local Fox KTXL in Sacramento but no problems out of Alabama

I’ve been having issues when Surfshark connects to Vancouver instead of Seattle. Sites either won’t let me in or all of a sudden I need to do things in foreign currencies etc.
