Surfshark doesn't support IPv6

My speeds on SS although were much better are not great now, 35 down average. Yes it’s enough to stream but having that extra is better. Without using it, it’s 350 + down. I spend hours on chat with them and they still have great customer support trying so many things to try and improve it but in the end nothing helped. The odd thing is I’ve always had IPv6 and had higher speeds before. They try and mask it to work around it. It really makes no sense as nothing changed here with my ISP’s hardware so something had to change on their end even though the app didn’t and it’s the latest version.

Same issue here. I moved. Switched to Comcast.Only ISP in town.
2,4/5 Ghz 300Mbp down/20 up service.
Best I can get is 55 down/20 up…
Surfshark says turn off IPv6 but the modem/Comcast does not support using IPv4 because there are too many users in the world and not enough distinct IPv4 addresses.
I am looking into getting a my own modem.

I cannot turn off IPv6. Nothing will run without it There is no setting to remove it. They need to support it as it’s been around for years. They are lacking here but I still get decent speeds. 55 down is more than enough to let you stream if that’s all you’re doing.

I just moved. I have Comcast 300 Down/ 20 Up.
Using Surfshark, speed is less than 45 Down. Up is 22+…
I use download stuff in excess of 2 GB four or five times a day.
My iPhone gags while connected to Comcast with Surfshark.
What ticks me off is that I got 11 months left on my subscription.

I have surfshark for a while now and have no problem with it with Rd at all. Once in a while I have a problem with Amazon and have to shut it down. But that’s it. No problem with speed either. Guess I lucky

Is there a question here or request somewhere?

ipv6 is a security risk and why vpn’s block it. I actually have ipv6 disabled on my pc with or without a vpn.

This might be dumb question but here goes…
Disa(bling IPv6 via PowerShell or from command prompt disables both Wifi/Ethernet ?..(and .therefore Wan and Lan?)
Thank You in Advance.
I only have WiFi. Never thought I would need a wire hook-up again.

I disable on the browser via about:config (firefox). Also my router also disables ipv6 by default. You can test a connection here> https://ipleak.net/ If v6 is disabled it will not register but you will see ipv4 fully functional which permits usage.

Why is IPv6 a security issue?. The way the internet talks about it it’s the best next thing??

IPv6 offers built-in encryption, authentication, and integrity features, however, it also presents unique or amplified security risks. Transition mechanisms, such as tunneling or dual-stack, can introduce complexity and configuration issues that create vulnerabilities. Additionally, extension headers can increase the size and complexity of packets which can affect processing and filtering by routers and firewalls. Extension headers can be abused by attackers to hide malicious data or bypass security measures. Finally, neighbor discovery protocol enables IPv6 devices to discover and communicate with each other on a local network, but it is vulnerable to spoofing, flooding, or redirection attacks that can compromise network connectivity or integrity.

Is there a way to make it work with SurfShark?
It is looking like I gotta find VPN that supports it.
I got SurfShark bcause it was recommended here for Firestick and streaming in general.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thank you.

If I had to pick one it would be Mulvad. I use it with ipv6 disabled but you can enable it and it is also one of the fastest vpn’s ive ever used.

I disabled it on m Win 11 PRO laptop. I used 2 places…Dev MGR and under Network Connection in control panel. My Win version seems counter intuitive in that
MS Network Adapter Multiplexor Protocol checked on diables for 2 NICs. I have a USB 6E (just using AC and not AX.) .
Using just the 5 Ghz now.
Surf shark only slow my connection from 300 to 240 range.
I wish the FS and the ONN 4K would allow that change.

Thanks for the idea TXRon. Disabling made a big difference and
https://ipleak.net is a great site.
