Surfshark causing IPTV issues?

I have had way better luck choosing my preferred location instead of letting it choose, and selecting Wireguard instead of Automatic. Those settings have been my sweet spot. The kicker is, you always have to know what your best one is and make sure you catch if that changes.

I agree that currently Chicago is the top server. NY seems to be over saturated currently

Maybe it seasonal? Seems like the majority of my fastest are all in the southern regions. Maybe when the snowbirds all flock down south come winter. Then maybe the northern regions will be faster?

I don’t use Windows much less own a PC anymore.

I switched to Chicago, although it sounds like it stopped working for me, as well. I’m out of the state currently, so my better-yet-less-tech-savvy-half is reporting to me

SS is working just fine for me at the moment. You are right, that for me also, choosing Wireguard or Open and not automatic choose, seems to help. Also currently using Chicago (I’m in the Midwest). I suspect and hope the problems people are having with SS will soon go away with updates and server procurements. Still seems, for me, that my iptv provider is the source for most intermittent problems.

I’ve been battling this same issue for a while. Never occurred to me it might be VPN . I use SS. I thought it might be my fire stick gone bad (it was old) so I bought an Onn. Same issues. I’ve done all the stuff they say to do when you get lagged, to no avail. After reading here, I’m convinced it’s SS. Has to be. I’ve tried everything else and thinking back, it didn’t start until I got SS. I’m going to try switching to ProtonVPN soon as I get a minute and see if it clears up.I’ll report back.

Buffalo is one of my best servers. Some of my iptv services dont want to load good with Chicago but i have no problems with Buffalo. I live in Pennsylvania and Ashburn is the closest for me… maybe because im a buffalo bills fan that server is meant for me though lol

Last night I went into SS and changed it from auto wire guard to just wire guard. I also took it off “fastest” and put it on Las Vegas. So far so good. It almost seems too simple but sometimes the simplest answer is the one that works. But, I’m still holding my breath. Thanks to those offering suggestions. Great resource site.

Some shark users frequently have issues with their protocol set to auto, as speeds are destabilized and can frequently drop as the protocol switchover happens.

Trial and error on auto/wireguard only/open etc is a good next troubleshooting step before migrating to a different VPN, especially since you’re already vested into shark.

I’ve had little issues with leaving my protocol to auto without seeing much impacted performance from any of my streaming content.

Am I the only person that turns off “web clean”? Seems it could be the source for some problems. Good thing to try (turning it off) as a troubleshooting step anyway.

I have considered testing without, but is one of the top reasons I went to SS. I’m curious what others results might be with it on and with it off.

I’m trying to think when the last time I needed it to block adds. TiviMate?..no. Film+ (I don’t think it’s modded either)…no. Smarttube?..no. I know it can block malware, but shouldn’t SS be doing that anyway?

I get the same issue. Nord works good all the time but surfshark does not.

Nord owns SS, but I believe they don’t co-mingle.

imho clean web works best on a phone if you tend to browse a lot. I dont use it with streaming as ads at least for me are not an issue. To me clean web on surfshark is suspect in the playstore because google doesnt allow ad blockers in the playstore and is why I get surfshark from the surfshark web site and side load it and do not allow the playstore to update it.

Surfshark just updated to 2.8.7.4. We’ll see if they fixed any of the noted issues users have had.

so when he uses the same IPTV with SS and has issues, then turns off SS with no issues,…its the IPTV fault? Great logic. just cause it works for you doesn’t make it will work for everyone.

The whole VPN merger trend has really been a pattern over the last 10 years. Soon, there will be only 2-3 major umbrellas of VPN sub-brands.

Nord and Shark birthed a $1B dollar merger, claiming that Kaziukonis and his SS company will operate independently. Same was said when Ryobi acquired Milwaukee Electric Tool - however, that proved to be very short lived.

Kape recently acquired Express VPN a few years ago, adding it to its umbrella that include CyberGhost, PIA, and ZenMate. Pomerantz of Express also claims it will run independently from the others under parent label.

J2Global, who also owns tech site IGN, PC Mag, Speedtest, picked up Ipvanish to join it’s catalog of VPN brands - StrongVPN, SafeVPN, etc.

It’s a world of conglomerates and mergers and acquisitions. Consumer confusion is usually the result.

I don’t run clean web on the stick. I do on my phone and there will be times when I have to turn it off
