My soundbar,pc,and home stereo system which I retired,all sounded naked without a good subwoofer.Granted there can be a few instances where the bass is a tad too much.
Denon AVR 5.1 channel setup. Have had KLH subwoofer for 20 years. Don’t know how I got by the previous 40 years without it!
My Q990C 11.1.4 Samsung Soundbar system gives such an amazing theater sound for movies. I use to hate Subs and thought they were just for those who didn’t truly know what good sound was. Now I’m a convert and can’t understand what I was thinking.

Subs just add low end sound frequencies that make sounds and music much fuller and more realistic. You don’t need a whole surround sound component system. Just a good quality soundbar with a connection for your subwoofer and you will get full range immersive sound. I have a Denon soundbar connected with a subwoofer cable to my Onkyo sub and the sound is fantastic.
