I agree @Miki. I am a very satisfied Stremio user, originally with RD and now with Torbox. I haven’t tried Nuvio. I started out with Kodi and still keep it as a back up, although I haven’t used it for years.
It is different strokes for different folks and we all tend to settle on one which does it for us. Some like to try out everything new that comes along. Others like me stick with what we are happy with.
I don’t think another poll is necessary. Troypoint regularly updates the list of best apps in various categories and my advice to a newcomer is to try a few to find the one which suits you best.
@Miki Yeah, regardless of whatever tool you’re using to access content, sometimes just restarting from the beginning is easier than banging your head against the digital wall.
It usually isn’t Stremio but codecs that your device may not handle. Setting up the best addons for your system may also take time and experimenting. Using DuckStreams and DebridioTB I can always find a source my system will play but then I know what my system can or can’t play. Other good addons are Torrentio, Comet, Meteor, Piratebay, and Sootio. All with TorBox and Premiumize Debrid services.
I have all three as well, however like you I find myself using Syncler nearly all the time. It almost always works flawlessly! I do like to have options and experiment with the apps Troy recommends.
try changing servers on your VPN, assuming you are using one. Sometimes the VPN can have settings that are making it difficult so try to find what works the best. Some VPN’s work better than others.
When I have buffering issue with Stremio, I just change servers and dump the Stremio cache. Seems to correct all problems. I still find lots of streams and a robust amount of content.
It’s not perfect but better than Kodi in my opinion.
From what I understand, Stremio allows only 2 boxes per account so if you have 2 boxes accessing the account at the same time, that may be the issue. Try setting up a new account. In a lot of cases that seems to fix the problem.
This claim is incorrect. Stremio does not impose a limit of two boxes (or devices) per account; users can install the app on as many devices as needed.
Official Limits: There are no restrictions on the number of devices or installations associated with a single Stremio account.
Debrid Service Limits: The limitation often cited comes from third-party Real-Debrid (RD) subscriptions, which typically restrict streaming to one active IP address at a time. If multiple devices stream simultaneously from different IP addresses, the debrid service may flag the account.
Workarounds: To use multiple devices across different networks, users often switch to debrid services that allow multiple IPs (such as TorBox) or use proxy addons to manage streams.
In summary, while Stremio itself allows unlimited devices, your specific debrid provider’s terms may restrict concurrent streaming from different locations.
I’m the same. I keep downloading troypoints new stremio and nuvio set ups and they are all dodgy and frustrating. Syncler has had a few glitches recently but still my go to source. Kodi is still number 1 though
Newby here. I love Syncler. Been using it for a few years now. There were some issues early on but has been fixed since. Very once in a blue moon it will not work due to updates from the Dev. And such. I do have Kodi as a back up.
@loquillo1212@Ray7@azhawk I tried Weyd ($15 annually), insanely easy setup, using TB, and it just works. Similar to Syncler comments but easier setup. If you haven’t tried Debridio on Stremio or Nuvio app, it just works. Debridio $10 annually.
I agree syncler is my go to.I had many problems and, sorry Troy but your instructions and videos were too hard for me to follow. Stremio and Nuvio gave me headaches until yesterday when I googled and AI jumped in and gave me the best setup.Easy too,no pausing needed, and solved every issue, for now anyway.I spent a few hours, made many mistakes but Google search and AI were an awesome tool.No rush or pause, even took a break to walk my dog. Mistakes along the way by AI as well but after input from me corrected them.Maybe if I were a Patron I wouldn’t have these problems, more resources and one on one but I’m 78,fixed income and too cheap for that.I know that I’m a bit slow on the draw now and probably the main reason I’m having problems. Kudos to Troy as for over 12 years I’ve been saving money with your help and your tool box is like my cookie jar. Stremio and Nuvio are both free and are both working as well as my paid for WEYD and Syncler.Free is good and to close, thanks Troy for everything.
I used to love the Cinema APK. Shame that it was discontinued. I have tried Stremio and others, but being an old fart I find them very complicated. I have gone back to Kodi via Troypoint with Red Light add-on and Premiumize. Seems to be working great so far.
I only use Stremio. Tried Nuvio didn’t like it, tried a few others same result. However I have used Stremio for over a decade, set it up long prior to any video How To and learned by mainly trial and error. Zero problems and have it on all my devices.
Stremio and Nuvio daily. I figure they’re free. Tried Syncler and didn’t like it. At that time it didn’t even track my watched series or show upcoming episodes and if I remember correctly I had to use Trakt as well and I hate Trakt. I absolutely love all the Development going into Nuvio and the constant improvements. Stremio + Nuvio + DebridioTB + DuckStreams + TorBox =G2G for all things VOD.
The old adage if it ain’t broke don’t fix it comes to mind with stremio. It does the job for me and I can easily integrate whichever debrid service I want as needed. Right now running it with trobox essential and works great for my wife and I.
So unless stremio goes completely off the rails I see no need to add nuvio, syncler, weyd or any other media center.
I’ve used both Stremio and Nuvio without any issues, the only thing that sucks with Stremio is the loss of live TV Channels, since TVpass has been taken down. I still prefer Kodi, I created my own custom build, I was running version Omega 21.2, and noticed some strange things happening, however I have now updated to Omega 21.3 and everything is working as it should, including live TV. I guess I’m just partial to Kodi in terms of satisfying all of my streaming needs, from live TV, to movies, to shows, and integrating Trakt>
I like the ability of Streamio to track which episode you are on. Got the occasional stream that wouldn’t run but since adding Debridio that doesn’t happen. I also have Premiumize.
Stremio and A good IPTV sub on TiviMate is all I need. I had Syncler before it was Syncler, but that app paid vs Stremio free is a no brainer for me. My whole thing is to cut the cord, so I would prefer not having to pay for an app sub, a Debrid sub, a IPTV sub etc. I paid lifetime for TiviMate years ago ($15), $12/mo for IPTV w/ VOD and free Stremio app with RD sub. That’s been my rig for the last few years and I love it. Left Syncler after about 2-3 years in, miss it a bit sometimes but not the sub cost. The beautiful thing about Stremio is, once it’s setup you can download on any Android and simply login and it imports your settings. Great for new devices or hard format!
