The constant cat-and-mouse game continues for the Stremio application as it has been removed from the Amazon and Apple App Stores while being reinstated to Google Play. Just over two weeks after being pulled, users can now find Stremio available again on the Google Play Store for both Android mobile and Android TV devices. In…
What worries me is all this attention. I am concerned that this will put it front and center with the net police and force it underground or to disappear altogether. How long can one dev put up with the constant oversight and negative criticism, before they throw in the towel. Disclaimers can only do so much and seems these days, you need a thick, bible like, set of disclaimers.
i was lucky, i downloaded stremio on my iphone last week. It works great, and is still working, even though apple apparently removed it.
Thanks Troy for the heads up about this. I was gonna help a friend configure and install stremio on his iphone this weekend.
It appears to me that MacOS Tahoe 26.2 includes software that disables Stremio and either moves the application to the trash or at least hides it from view on the applications page. I can load Stremio on my Onn 4K plus box, but have no way of manipulating add ons or accessing my Stremio account!
I read today (2/17/26) on the Stremio website blog posted on February 6, 2026:
"Due to a misunderstanding with Apple, the MacOS app signing certificate has been revoked which will cause an error message to show for users when attempting to open the Stremio MacOS app. We are currently in the process of appealing Apple’s actions and expect this issue to be resolved within 1-2 weeks.
Contrary to the error message that can be seen on some MacOS versions, Stremio is not (and never has been) “malware”, yet this is the standard message that Apple has chosen to show to users when an invalid code signing certificate is used.
We will keep users updated regarding this case as it progresses, but you should not fear the worst, we expect the MacOS app to continue to be distributed with a valid code signing certificate in the near future."
Two weeks is almost up, so we shall see!
