Stremio is AWESOME! Try it out!

With Stremio you need to register an account. The free choice won’t give you anything. The easiest way to get the API key in is to use a laptop or computer install Stremio on that device go to the torrentio addon page, get the api key, copy and paste it into the form and hit install. Then on every device you have, or anyone has Stremio installed on, you will get your entire setup after you log into it. But Stremio pulls tons of sources even without RD. Be sure to use a VPN.

See the post from @Miki above.
I followed the guide and as stated, you have to first complete the set-up on a mobile or laptop/pc. Them your account will auto update on the firestick and all the content available. :+1:

Glad you gave it a go. Safe, efficient and well maintained are just 3 reasons to use it.

What is a good add-on to use and where can I get that info…thanks trying to learn how to use stremio

You get the add-ons directly in stremio. I would recommend adding everything there is and exclude only ones that are not in a language that you understand or subjects that you absolutely don’t want. The add-ons are on the server and not your device so they take up no space and run on any device you launch it from.

It’s been my go to app since it came out.

One of the best ones that pulls lots of links is Torrentio.

You can integrate Real Debrid into if you like, but it isn’t absolutely necessary. Stremio pulls in lots of links even without RD. The list above has torrentio in it, just click the “settings” and fill it out and then install. If you’re going to install RD then it’s easiest if you do it on a lap top or desktop that you have Stremio installed on because then when you click the link, in that form, and get the API key it’s very long and on the computer it’s easier to copy and paste it. Doesn’t matter what OS it is, your setup, including addons, is kept on the server and whatever device you log into Stremio on your settings will be applied, along with your library and watch list.
Oh, one more thing, use a VPN with this app, lots of torrent links.
Have fun and STREAM ON.

Well, they aren’t fishing letters. The copyright owner has detected someone torrenting and has complained to the ISP (that’s how it’s done now - the ISPs are responsible for policing torrenting). The ISP then sends a blocking letter to the offender who must acknowledge it before his connection can be re-instated. That’s how it works with Spectrum. And it’s “five strikes and you’re out” with them - your account is terminated after 5 offences.

So get a VPN!

It is fishing letters. They’re trying to see if you’ll respond out of fear. I don’t know what you call it, but I call it fishing. Just ignore them. In Canada they don’t and can’t block or interfere with your service, it’s illegal to assume someone has broken any law without due process.

Well, that’s not how it works in the US. Spectrum will block your internet access if they get a complaint. You have to respond to their message to get your internet service back. I’d be surprised if things are that much different in CA.

They are. You’re talking to one of those who brought torrenting into the main stream in Canada. Don’t know why a country like the U.S. would allow anyone to be unjustly accused and punished without due process. It’s illegal, period. So if you’re a spectrum user and allow this to happen, that’s on you. I won’t comment further in this thread as it then becomes a legal discussion and one about rights, and this isn’t the place for that.

OK, whatever you say…

Here in the UK, and ISP would be crossing a very thin red line sending any docs declaring your online activity criminal. Never known a single case where someone using a VPN has been banned by an ISP or faced any criminal charges…so there’s a hint right there :sunglasses:

Every isp and country has different protocols for copyright infringement of torrents.

What might happen to you with spectrum might ne different with another provider in the us. In canada with the 3 biggest what happens is the lets say WB sends a notice saying someone has accessed our copyrighted material with this isp, the only thing the isp can do is send a email or letter saying you did this and you can be sewed… i have gotten 10. I also worked for cogeco in canada, they legally cant send your information and personal info. Instead they inform you. However if it is bad enough they can suspend your internet for invesgation.

If its not happing in canada canadian isp wont do a thing. But! Dont take it lighlty, ALWAYS USE A VPN ON STREMIO! your internet traffic on this app is highly viewable.

Just a little insider. I wouldnt call them fishing expeditions, but they cant really do anything or prove it’s you

I recieved 6 cease and desist letters when I had my torrent site, one I responded to. Knowing I was behind a highly configured firewall and using 256 bit encryption I asked them to prove their claims, and told them if they ever falsely accused me again I would hire a legal team and take them all the way to the supreme court if necessary. I never heard back from them and they never bothered me again. It’s why I always say a VPN is a must ANYTIME. I shut my site down 2 yrs later due to in fighting not some lame ISP.

OK, by all means provide information for Canadian and UK users on this site but bear in mind the US is different. Here’s the page I got from Spectrum first time:

They require you to acknowledge your receipt of the message before re-instating your service.

The second notice (similar to this) specified the “5 strikes and you’re out” threat.

US readers/users be warned - the law is the same for all US ISPs (negotiated with the MPAA and RIAA in the courts several years ago).

@sktn77a

Once again, its different in canada. That might not even apply in some states. I don’t want to get into a legal conversation.

Thanks for posting.

I think the proper techniques for anonymity would have worked in this case, like a VPN. Looks like copyrighted material was accessed on an unsecured line and that’s on the user.

So, use a VPN and they wouldn’t be able to determine what your watching, downloading or even where it’s coming from  The end to your probs and a guarantee you will never get another letter :sunglasses:
