I have been using Stremio on my NVIDIA Shield Pro for a while now and have a question regarding closed caption. Is there a way in the settings to have closed caption automatically work on all movies and TV episodes? As it is now, I have to stop the movie and click 5 or 6 times to load the closed caption…not a major chore, but it would be nice if it was on all the time or at least if I click a link, the CC links would come up.
Maybe I missed something in the setup…the CC loads on my computer with Stremio but not the Shield. Also, I chose the CC to be yellow but it appears white on both my computer and the shield.
Don’t know where the speech bubble is …I’ve going up at the top, click a button, click subtitle, a list shows up, click one, then click download and then it sets up.
I did that on my computer and it works but not on the Nvidia Shield. I thought I read somewhere there is a sync button on the computer version, but I don’t see one.

I run Stremio 1.5.8 on my 2019 shield pro and use the subs all the time. I configured it in the settings and then if I want subs to run on a movie I click what looks like a keyboard icon, top right, when the vid starts and turn on the subs, or turn it off. When the vid starts click your enter button on the remote. This pauses the movie and opens the various banner icons on the top right.
No picking any link. I already set the various sub options in the settings. From there it’s a matter of turning it off and on. There are a number of subtitle source addons.
That’s the way it is on my computer, but not the Shield. Maybe it’s the player in the shield that is the issue? I just looked at my computer and see a icon of a keyboard at the bottom…clicked on it and it has the sub title color and size and shows that it’s on …don’t have that on the shield.
I have click on external player in Stremio on the shield and it doesn’t seem to do anything…the same player is on everything I watch. I do have MX player installed and it works on other apks.
Miki, thank you for the screen shot …I don’t have that on my player. I have the hamburger bar, a musical note, HW and three bars and an arrow. (I think that takes you to the next episode of a TV program)
I’m using Android version 9.1.1, Shield version 11, model number P2897. I believe it’s the 2019 Nvidia Shield Pro. Is there a way to change the player? I believe when I click on a link, I have tried the option of external player, but nothing happens.
Exact same Shield I have. Where did you get stremio from? When in doubt go to their site. It will scan your device and when you scroll down it will highlight and “recommend” the proper install. Now I installed 1.5.8 but every restart it reverted to 1.5.7 and I hated the horizontal layout of my library in that version, so after some work, I found that I had to open my google account on the shield, turn off “Play Protect” and “auto updates”. Now I accessed my google account on my Samsung phone and thought I had turned both those settings off, but while the Play Protect setting seemed to transfer to the Shield the auto update did not. So that’s when I found you have to go into your account on the device you want to turn off auto updated on. Here is the link to get the latest Stremio app.
I may have gotten it from the Amazon apk store…don’t remember. I may have taken the Windows version. Can I use the browser in Downloader to get to the Stremio site? If so, it looks like there are four versions I can download for Android…which one should I get?
Once you open the site, and yes you can use downloader, going to downloads and scrolling down, you will find the android downloads and one of them will be highlighted and have “recommended download” tag.
Stremio best Closed Caption is Galaxy TV. Usually shown under one of the first 720 feeds and in the body of the description of the video to be viewed you’ll see Galaxy TV. Once the video starts, press the “enter” button at top you’ll see the keyboard icon Miki describes, select that icon then look to activate Galaxy. It’s always in sync and readable
