I and the million or so other people across the world who use the service are already using a VPN just not the way you are thinking. So, especially if you are in the United States you have nothing more to worry about while streaming when using Debrid services. It’s just a fact that the VPN companies do not like.
Again I’m not advocating against using VPN services it’s just overkill with using debrid services. The op is having a hard time figuring out what’s glitching on their setup and think it might be their VPN. Since that very likely could be the case especially depending on what VPN service they are using. Many available are less secure than just using a debrid service. So, there is absolutely no reason to try Stremio with VPN off so long as they are using debrid on Torrentio nothing to worry about especially when trying to diagnose an issue. Then if that doesn’t fix it they can go on and try a different player or uninstalling and reinstalling Stremio.
If you are an avid KODI user or Stremio and you use more than Torrentio probably a good idea to have a decent VPN and use it.
If you’re just streaming and you only are using the Debrid links for watching movies and shows there is simply no reason for a VPN. So, like I said when I set devices up for family and friends and I try to keep it simple for them. Since I’m not a fool I’m going to set them up with something they can use and not have to worry about getting a scarry letter in the mail about copyright infringements, even though they are not. So I am doing the looking out for them.
So, I personally found the best easiest, safest and most efficient setup for most people streaming is simply paying the pittance for weyd and using a debrid service. Real debrid is the easiest and best for that purpose as far as I know. But I have real debrid and Premiumize accounts along with VPN if I am doing something that requires VPN.
A lot of my family I just have set up simply this way. I make a disposable email account for them that I use to set up all the services on that individuals devices. For them I’ll use my weyd account I believe I have it at 20 devices. I’m not doing this with all 20 devices on one account but I do share the premiumize accounts since unlike the other debrid services it does not go off IP address but a shared fair usage point system. For me that’s their selling point.
So now I got them $20 onn boxes to replace working 4K Fire sticks because I’m sick of fire OS and Amazon. I load them with weyd and for most Stremio also using Premiumize as the Debrid services. A couple of my uncles understood the process and were willing to pay for real debrid in order to get more links. One also understands VPN because he’s a paranoid person who’s also always getting viruses on his computer for playing around at right wing political conspiracy sites. While on the other hand with my aunt’s and my mother it’s just whatever I give them that’s what they are using without putting another thought into it.
But the point is they are all ok and safe to stream without ever getting a scarry letter that some will never get regardless of VPN or not anyway. This is not necessarily the best case for everyone but anyone using debrid in the US does not have to run VPN at the same time.
