Remember the initial promise of cable? Lots of content and, since it was a paid subscription service, no ads? Well, anytime it becomes a publically-traded stock, the company seeks to satisfy the greed of the investors and ad revenue was just the ticket.
Is it any wonder that, with ads showing up, people are dumping the subscriptions much more quickly than they did cable?
We cut that cable about ten years ago in favor of streaming and have only regretted it when buffering is an issue (rarely). A good viewer, a good provider and a good VPN all for a pittance of what the cable providers charge per month.

My biggest gripe about most of the IPTV services is that I have to tramp through 100+ countries and thousands upon thousands of channels to get the dozen or so that I want. Sure 15,000 channels looks great in the advertising but doesn’t make for a user-friendly interface!
At one of my houses I have decent antenna reception (well, with an 8-bay reflector antenna in the attic) and can get the one-or-two non-OTA channels on LivenetTV or TVmob. At my other house, no such luck so I have to “Pay the Man” (Spectrum) $160 a month for internet and standard cable.
I’m surprised that your IPTV service does not allow you to pick what country you want on your playlist.?

What sports are you getting from free apps other than ota local broadcasts?
I haven’t had any IPTV providers that would not agree to prune the Country lists (at the very least upon request). Some will provide that service up front at time of sign-up. I typically prune that list even further in my player of choice that will let me hide categories - a bit of work but well worth it,
